Structural Steel / Miscellaneous Metals Detailer

Location: Chicago Area, IL

Overview

One of our clients is seeking an experienced Structural Steel / Miscellaneous Metals Detailer to prepare detailed shop drawings based on design and construction documents. This position will play a critical role in coordinating with other trades, supporting fabrication efforts, and ensuring accurate drawing packages are released for production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare structural steel and miscellaneous metals shop drawings from architectural and structural design drawings.

  • Coordinate detailing activities with other trades to identify and resolve conflicts.

  • Review project drawings, specifications, and design documents for accuracy and completeness.

  • Incorporate client, engineer, and architect review comments into drawing revisions.

  • Prepare finalized drawing packages for fabrication and production release.

  • Coordinate with project managers, fabrication teams, and field personnel throughout project execution.

  • Maintain drawing revisions and project documentation.

  • Ensure detailing work complies with project requirements, industry standards, and fabrication practices.

Required Qualifications
  • Experience detailing structural steel and miscellaneous metals projects.

  • Strong understanding of fabrication and erection processes.

  • Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings.

  • Experience coordinating with multiple trades on commercial or industrial projects.

  • Proficiency with SDS/2 and/or Tekla Structures.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
