Basic Job Functions:

As a welder on the frame welding line, you will work alongside your crew to keep a fast-paced, high-volume frame welding line running safely, efficiently and profitably. The pace is fast and the standard is high. You'll be MIG welding steel components into finished pallet racking frames. A successful candidate is someone who leads by example, and does the following:

  • Safety first, always - At Nucor, everyone goes home the same way they showed up. You'll know how to keep yourself and your fellow teammates safe.
  • Weld with precision - Work confidently across gauges and wall thicknesses, in flat and vertical positions, including 360-degree welds. AWS/ASME certified or certifiable is a plus.
  • Own your quality - Inspect your own work, catch defects early, and hold yourself to the spec - every part, every time.
  • Keep your equipment ready - Perform routine maintenance on your MIG welder and related equipment so the line stays moving.
  • Be a team player - Rotate through cells, help relieve bottlenecks, and contribute to a line that wins together.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Pass the NWS Monroe sheet metal and structural welding test
  2. Weld low carbon steel working with 16-7 gauges (thin welding) and 0.125"-0.500" wall thicknesses (structural welding)
  3. Ability to properly set up and perform routine maintenance of the MIG welder and equipment
  1. Ability to read and comprehend blueprints
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. 1-2 years of welding experience
  2. 6+ months of experience welding beams and both roll form and structural frames
  3. The ideal candidate will be AWS / ASME certified or certifiable
