Job description

Description
CORKEN STEEL PRODUCTS COMPANY
Job Description
Territory Manager / Outside Sales
Roofing Products Division | Reports to: Roofing Sales Manager
Position Summary
The Territory Manager is responsible for growing Corken Steel Products Company's roofing product sales within an assigned territory by identifying and meeting the material needs of roofing contractors, builders, and other trade customers. This role serves as the primary point of contact between the Company and its customers, promoting the full line of roofing systems and related building products - including shingles, underlayment, flashing, ventilation, insulation, and low-slope/commercial roofing materials - while representing Corken's commitment to quality, service, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
• Sell the Company's full roofing product line by growing sales of existing product categories with current accounts and introducing customers to additional lines carried by Corken (residential and commercial roofing systems, underlayment, ventilation, flashing, fasteners, and accessories).
• Develop new business by identifying, qualifying, and converting approved prospects - including roofing contractors, remodelers, builders, and property management accounts - that are not currently regular customers.
• Maintain a consistent, proactive call schedule across the assigned territory that produces measurable account growth, with particular attention to seasonal roofing demand cycles and storm/restoration activity.
• Keep customers informed of new product introductions, manufacturer price changes, seasonal promotions, sales programs, and technical or code-related developments affecting roofing materials.
• Provide job-site support as needed, including material take-offs, product recommendations, and troubleshooting, to help customers complete roofing projects efficiently and correctly.
• Coordinate with branch and warehouse staff to ensure accurate, on-time delivery of roofing materials and to resolve order, inventory, or logistics issues.
• Deliver a consistently high standard of customer service, including prompt follow-up on quotes, orders, claims, and manufacturer warranty questions.
• Uphold and support Company policies and standards as outlined in the employee handbook.
• Participate in ongoing personal and professional development, including manufacturer product training and Company-provided sales training programs, to maintain current knowledge of roofing systems and installation practices.
• Set and pursue short- and long-term sales goals in coordination with the Branch Manager or Sales Manager, adjusting territory strategy as market and seasonal conditions change.
• Achieve assigned annual base quotas and sales targets, with compensation determined in accordance with the Territory Manager incentive plan.
Qualifications
• Prior experience in outside sales, building materials distribution, or the roofing/construction trades preferred.
• Working knowledge of roofing products, terminology, and installation practices, or the demonstrated ability to acquire this knowledge quickly.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build lasting relationships with contractors and trade customers.
• Self-motivated and able to manage an assigned territory with minimal daily supervision.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation; ability to travel throughout the assigned territory, including occasional job-site visits.
• Basic proficiency with order-entry systems, email, and mobile devices for call reporting and customer communication.
Working Conditions
This position requires regular travel throughout the assigned territory in a variety of weather conditions, occasional visits to active roofing job sites, and the physical ability to review materials and installations on site. Work hours may vary seasonally to align with customer needs and project timelines.
