What is the Opportunity?

Aecon is a North American construction and infrastructure development company with global experience - transforming vision into reality. We offer a full spectrum of nuclear services for refurbishment, maintenance, new build, decommissioning, modularization, and fabrication to power a sustainable future. 

Our nuclear sector plays an important role in extending the life of existing nuclear stations and executing the next generation of nuclear new builds leveraging a similar fleet execution strategy. From our work delivering the two largest refurbishment projects (Savannah River nuclear station and North Anna Power Station) in North America to deploying the first grid-scale SMR in the western world. We continue moving forward with a strategic focus on decarbonizing energy systems in support of a net zero future. 

This role is critical to driving the success of Steam Generator Replacement projects in the US. The Director will lead Aecon's support to Steam Generator Team LLC for the execution of Steam Generator Replacement projects across the entire project lifecycle-from early business development and pursuit through detailed planning and execution. This position requires a blend of strong commercial insight and exceptional leadership to ensure projects are delivered safely, with quality, and profitably.

What You'll Do Here:

  • Provide leadership for Aecon support of Steam Generator Team in the development of a comprehensive US Steam Generator Replacement (SGR) market strategy.
  • Work with Steam Generator Team and JV partner to build strategic partnerships to strengthen market position and delivery capability.
  • Oversee Aecon's input into bid preparation, pricing strategies, and commercial negotiations to secure profitable contracts, and review overall Steam Generator Team estimates and bids.
  • Act in concert with Steam Generator Team to as an executive liaison for utilities and nuclear plant owners.
  • Participate in Steam Generator Team client relations initiatives to develop and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with client leadership teams.
  • Ensure proactive communication and issue resolution to support client satisfaction and confidence.
  • Represent Aecon and Steam Generator Team at industry forums, conferences, and stakeholder meetings, as needed.
  • Build and lead high-performing, multidisciplinary teams needed to support execution of Steam Generator Team scope of work across engineering, construction, and commercial functions.
  • Promote and foster a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement, within Aecon and Steam Generator Team.
  • Mentor senior leaders and develop succession plans to ensure long-term organizational capability.
  • Support Steam Generator Team readiness activities for major outages and replacements, including tooling, logistics, and staffing.
  • Participate in the development and review of Steam Generator Team's integrated project estimates and schedules, providing Aecon input across all phases of work.
  • Represent Aecon through participation in Steam Generator Team processes to ensure SGT meets project commitments.  
  • Identify and drive resolution of critical issues and escalate decisions to executive leadership when necessary.
  • Ensure Steam Generator Team's resources support Steam Generator Team's safety processes in building a nuclear safety culture and enforce adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor Steam Generator Team performance to ensure compliance to Steam Generator Team's with quality assurance programs and client specifications.
  • Work with the Steam Generator Team management team to promote human performance principles and maintain zero-tolerance for safety violations.
  • Own P&L accountability for Aecon portion of Steam Generator Team performed work on US SGR projects, ensuring delivery within approved margin and risk profiles.
  • Participate in Steam Generator Team contract negotiations, change orders, and claims management strategies; on behalf of Aecon for US projects.
  • Ensure accurate forecasting, cash flow management, and cost control processes are maintained by Steam Generator Team for US SGR projects
  • Ensure Steam Generator Team remains in compliance with audit requirements and internal financial governance for Aecon.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • 15+ years in large EPC or nuclear projects, with Steam Generator Replacement experience.
  • Proven success in business development and client engagement.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.
  • Commercial expertise in contracts, risk, and project governance.
  • Willingness to travel extensively.
