Job Description
The Steam Fitter installs, assembles, repairs, and maintains piping systems that carry high-pressure gases, liquids, and steam at the CMI customer site in Beltsville, MD.
Key Job Functions
  • Fabricate and assemble piping systems using various joining methods, such as brazing, soldering, threading, and welding.
  • Install and repair heavy mechanical components like boilers, valves, pumps, compressors, and regulators.
  • Analyze technical drawings and schematics to plan layouts, determine material costs, and build according to exact engineering specifications.
  • Conduct pressure and leak testing on pipes to ensure they can withstand high-stress environments and meet safety codes.
  • Performs other steam fitter related duties as required

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • At least 3 years of Steam Fitting experience within a government facility
  • Must have expertise in steam fitting and be able to perform maintenance on steam systems.
  • Proficiency in joining metals (especially steel and copper) and using trade tools like saws, benders, and threaders.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to make precise measurements and calculations.
  • Ability to lift heavy pipes, climb ladders, and maneuver in tight, hot, or uncomfortable environments.
  • Must be able to fluently read, write, speak, and understand the English language
  • Must be able to pass a government background check
