Job description

After School/Summer STEAM Instructor&Tutor (Part Time/Temp)-SUMMER 2026

2026 Summer Program runs July 6- August 20 ~ Monday-Thursday ~ 9:30am-2:30pm*

*some days, work hours may vary for field trips or events

General responsibilities include:

Providing STEAM topic instruction, engagement and activities for middle and high school level students in residential and therapeutic care, including but not only:

Implementing day-to-day planning of lessons

Preparing materials for and carrying out experiments and other activities

Fostering a classroom atmosphere that is conducive to learning while allowing youth to express and enjoy themselves at the same time

Planning of field trips

Organize and maintain a system of accurate and complete record-keeping, lesson plan

Performing related tasks or other agency and/or programmatic required needs associated with this role

Minimum eligibility requirements include:

Working a Flexible schedule for after school sessions at HFY main office and other program locations

Experience working with school-aged youth, preferably with special needs in educational, tutoring or camp counselor capacity

Experience teaching STEM/STEAM programs preferred.

Physical Requirements: read/write reports and log entries, walking/standing for prolonged periods, bending/stooping, kneeling/squatting, climbing stairs, reaching overhead, repetitive wrist/finger movements, lift up to 50lbs
