The Maintenance Supervisor will lead a skilled team in ensuring the safe, environmentally responsible, and efficient operation of the E74th Street Complex. This role oversees the repair, maintenance, and overhaul of critical power plant systemsincluding boilers, pumps, motors, and auxiliary equipmentwhile driving optimal use of resources and fostering a culture of safety and compliance. Required Education/Experience
  • High School Diploma/GED and 5 years of equivalent work experience in power plant or merchant shipping environment, electrical and mechanical equipment, or
  • Associate's Degree and 4 years of equivalent work experience in power plant or merchant shipping environment, electrical and mechanical equipment, or
  • Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of equivalent work experience in power plant or merchant shipping environment, electrical and mechanical equipment.
Preferred Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and a minimum of 2 years of equivalent work experience in power plant or merchant shipping environment, electrical and mechanical equipment.
Relevant Work Experience
  • Working knowledge of control room, boiler and high- or low-pressure auxiliary operation, plant trouble shooting, boiler mechanic, blueprint reading and pipe fitting, required.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices and procedures, operating order, work permits and use of appropriate personal protective equipment, required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, external customers, support staff, and all levels of management and union personnel, required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Maximo, Oracle, and other work management systems, required.
  • At least three years of supervisory experience, preferred.
Licenses and Certifications

Physical Demands
  • Ability to respond to system emergencies
  • Able to work in all weather conditions, i.e. excessive heat and/or cold
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs
  • Ability to work on elevated platforms, scaffolds, catwalks, roofs, and/or other equipment
  • Ability to work in inclement weather and adverse conditions (i.e., excessive heat, cold, noise, confined spaces)
  • Ability to work with, and in, the vicinity of high voltage and/or other high-energy systems
  • Ability to be approved to wear and use either a full or half-face respirator, without facial hair or other conditions that may interfere with the seal, in accordance with OSHA regulations
  • Stand, walk, lift, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and/or reach for the duration of the workday
  • Ability to travel to company locations to work on storm restoration and heat contingencies
  • Wear necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), i.e. fire-retardant clothing and safety harnesses
  • Work rotating shifts, including nights, midnights, weekends, and holidays
Additional Physical Demands
  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
Core Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise union and contractor personnel in Mechanical, Electrical and Vendor Maintenance activities, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Manage contractor engagements by obtaining quotes, creating purchase orders in Oracle, and processing requisitions and receipts in compliance with CAM guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance by developing and maintaining contractor packages in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive safety and productivity by enforcing all contractual and local work rules, assigning personnel per the Weekly Work Schedule, and aligning work with station priorities.
  • Oversee administrative processes including daily updates in MAXIMO and accurate documentation of work performed in maintenance logs and work management systems.
  • Collaborate with planning to enhance work plans, provide feedback on completed tasks, and ensure strict adherence to all Maintenance, Station, and Company procedures.
  • Participate in daily management meetings to report progress, review work scopes, and submit clear and concise Work Permit Requests.
  • Plan and coordinate work by developing schedules, critical paths, and resource allocation for repair and overhaul of power plant equipment such as boilers, pumps, motors, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Safeguard operational integrity through proper data backups, confidentiality, and secure handling of historical records.
  • Handle multiple assignments efficiently, demonstrating flexibility and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Perform additional duties and assignments as required to support station operations and organizational goals.
