Job Summary

The main purpose of this position is to provide hands on technical skills in the installation, inspection, calibration, preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Metering & Regulating (M&R) Stations, related transmission pipeline facilities, and the LPA Plant. This position requires a highly skilled level of performance in all aspects of operations, maintenance, and installation in M&R stations, LPA plants, and the LNG plant, and must perform all work in compliance with operating and maintenance procedures thus insuring the integrity of the natural gas distribution system throughout the state. 

At this time, only current PSEG employees are being considered.

Job Responsibilities
  • The main purpose of this position is to provide hands on technical skills in the installation, inspection, calibration, preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Metering & Regulating (M&R) Stations, related transmission pipeline facilities, and the LPA Plant.
  • This position requires a highly skilled level of performance in all aspects of operations, maintenance, and installation in M&R stations, LPA plants, and the LNG plant, and must perform all work in compliance with operating and maintenance procedures thus insuring the integrity of the natural gas distribution system throughout the state.
  • This includes the ability to understand, operate, maintain, and repair all relevant equipment; prepare and perform operations and maintenance training programs for related facilities; and collect data, prepare regulatory inspection reports and interact with regulatory agencies during inspection of M&R, LNG and LPA facilities. This position requires after hours duty on a rotational basis. 
  • This position is also responsible for the supervision of bargaining unit employees during the operation and maintenance of propane-air peaking plants.
  • Reporting to an alternate work location may also be required.
     
Job Specific Qualifications
  • High School graduate or GED.
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience in gas operations, or related industrial operations, or a minimum of 2 years within the M&R Gas Plants department performing maintenance related activities, and maintenance inclusive of a minimum of 3 years of demonstrated electronic troubleshooting skills along with mechanical or electrical instrumentation experience.
  • Possess a valid U.S. driver’s license and maintain a safe driving record.
  • Safety Sensitive Position – D.O.T. tests and Operator Qualification (OQ) testing required.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate and assess operational data to select appropriate action or techniques.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in roles where teamwork, initiative, analytical, and judgment skills were used to drive results (examples to be provided).
  • Compliance with the Department of Energy's regulation 10 CFR 810 is required.

  • Associate or two year technical degree in mechanical, electronic, controls or related field.
  • Solid, diverse background in hands-on mechanical, instrument and electrical skills with experience with troubleshooting equipment used in M&R Stations and Plants.
  • Knowledge and working experience with a wide variety of electronic and pneumatic calibrators, as well as natural gas, propane and liquid natural gas equipment.
  • Fundamental personal computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Maintenance management System (SAP) and many proprietary software programs, such as Mon, Direct Soft, Opto Control suite, GMACS.
  • Knowledge of basic gas and cryogenic properties, theories and principles.
