Position SummaryAre you interested in a position where you can contribute to critical airport functions while working in a collaborative, inclusive, and service-driven environment? Under the general direction of a Field Maintenance Operations Manager, Duty Managers oversee and direct the daily and seasonal maintenance duties for the field maintenance department including frontline contact with various stakeholders for operations at the Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport. Duty Managers supervise and direct the work of assigned staff, assign duties and hours of work, and delegate responsibilities to subordinates.
Duty Managers are responsible for the safety of employees and equipment in the performance of all duties. Duty Managers are responsible for the management and maintenance of airside and landside areas such as runways, taxiways, ramp apron areas, roadways, parking and turf areas, walks, drainage systems, fences, signs, buildings, and other public facing areas. Duty Managers perform inspections and prepare required reports.
Duty Managers assist the Field Maintenance Operations Managers in the performance of all designated job functions, and in the absence of the manager, may assume full responsibility for completion of tasks. Duty Managers are subject to call-in in the event of any emergency conditions, irregular operations, and snow and ice control operations. Duty Managers collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to meet customer needs and uphold MAC's Purpose and Values. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Position DescriptionRELATIONSHIPSSupervisory - Reports to the assigned Field Maintenance Operations Manager. Has direct supervisory responsibility for assigned field maintenance and fleet staff and seasonal and temporary employees as assigned.
Organizational - Works frequently with Field Maintenance and Fleet staff, Integrated Operations, Landside Operations, Public Safety and other MAC managers and supervisors.
External Business - Frequent contact with air traffic control tower personnel, airline personnel, contractors and other tenants.

- Supervise, direct, and assign the work schedules and activities of assigned staff to ensure service and operational standards are met.

- Conduct regularly scheduled meetings with employees to communicate work plans, address issues, and provide other appropriate information.
- Support staff development through timely performance feedback, coaching, and recognition of employee achievements.

- Participate in the hiring, reassignment, promotion, recognition, discipline, suspension, and termination processes for assigned employees in coordination with department leadership and the Human Resources Department.
- Ensure compliance with MAC's Human Resources and departmental policies and supervise assigned staff in accordance with applicable regulations, policies, and collective bargaining agreements.
- Communicate clear performance expectations and standards to employees.
- Complete employee probationary and annual performance recaps and conduct performance review discussions.
Snow and Ice Removal- Coordinate and direct runway snow removal operations and ensure safety of all personnel.
- Determine crew complement and initiate crew call-backs in coordination with department leadership.
- Assign personnel to equipment as appropriate.
- In coordination with the Snow Control Center, determine method of aircraft movement area snow removal operations and closures and determine appropriate application of materials and chemicals.
- Monitor, report, and eliminate unsafe conditions in accordance with Snow Control Center guidance.
- Supervise Working Forepersons in their oversight of airside and landside snow removal operations.
- Maintain the knowledge and ability to operate all equipment in the Field Maintenance snow removal fleet.
Bituminous and Concrete Repair- Coordinate bituminous, concrete, and masonry repairs and preventive maintenance on runways, taxiways, aircraft parking areas, public roadways, parking facilities and sidewalks.
- Determine method of pavement maintenance/repair and determine material use in accordance with departmental standards.
- Determine the need for aircraft movement area closures and communicate with Integrated Operations.
- Identify and report areas needing repair in accordance with FAA Part 139 standards.
Landscaping/Grounds Keeping- Coordinate landscape maintenance and determine material use in accordance with departmental guidelines.
- Determine best practices for landscape maintenance and herbicide use in coordination with department leadership.
- Identify and determine the scope of work to be completed and prioritize locations in need of landscape maintenance.
- Inspect all landscape locations to ensure compliance with departmental standards.
General Maintenance and Training- Serve the public, maintain operational safety, maintain airport aesthetics and appearance and operate in a cost-effective and fiscally responsible manner.
- Identify potential problems and initiate corrective actions to minimize impact to the traveling public.
- Coordinate resolution of issues with senior management, tenants, government officials, and other airport users.
- Coordinate the removal of foreign object debris (FOD), refuse, fuel contaminated debris and other spills per the spill prevention plan.
- Coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs to security gates, security fencing, signage, drainage systems, turf areas, landscaping, parking ramps, parking lots and other areas as appropriate.
- Coordinate response to work orders as appropriate.
- Coordinate with the MAC Safety and Environmental departments to ensure adherence to all legal and safety requirements.
- Instruct employees in departmental standard operating procedures and programs.
- Instruct and coordinate training for employees in the operation of all vehicles and equipment in the Field Maintenance fleet.
- Operate computers to draft communication and documentation, perform data entry, and create and access reports utilizing word processing, database, spreadsheet, email, and graphics-based software applications.
- Attend meetings and training as directed.
- Maintain communication channels upward and downward in the organization.

Position RequirementsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of experience in airport field maintenance operations or airport management ORfive years of experience in street maintenance, exterior property maintenance, snow removal, or general construction.
- Two years of supervisory experience where the primary duties included hiring, delegating, coaching, rewarding and disciplining employees OR in lieu of supervisory experience, MAC employees may attach a copy of their Supervisory Skills Development Program Certificate that was completed within the last 4 years to meet this requirement.
- Professional knowledge of the safe operation of vehicles, tools, and equipment.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Basic skill level using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Experience with creating and maintaining documentation and correspondence.
- Experience with developing schedules and assigning and delegating work assignments.
