About the Role:

As a Sr. Marketing Underwriter Rep in Nebraska,  you will be part of a multi-functional team managing both new and existing relationships with independent agents and brokers to produce new account opportunities for the organization focusing on workers' compensation policies. This role will work with internal and external partners to deliver best in class performance and deliver profitable business for the Organization.  You will be responsible for the entire book of middle market business which includes renewals, evaluating new business, and deploying effective account management strategies.  Much of your attention will be directed at growing SFM’s footprint in Nebraska, serving as the underwriter when working on renewals and new business. This is a new position because of our growth in Nebraska .   Developing and maintaining agency/broker relationships is key to achieving success along with meeting new business and retention goals. What You Will Be Doing

  1. Promotes and develops new business activity and uses creative thinking to market SFM to agents and producers.  Manages the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of business.
  2. Maintains and is responsible for entire underwriting book of business to achieve premium volume and loss ratios consistent with company goals and objectives and supports the appointment of new agencies.
  3. Fosters and maintains relationships with external partners by regularly meeting in person with agents and brokers to establish marketing plan goals, and communicate company philosophy, procedures and service capabilities with a goal of writing and retaining accounts consistent with company goals.
  4. Provides premier customer service to all customers and complies with customer service standards and collaborates with internal business partners to achieve company goals. May assist in training new or less experienced team members.  
  5. Identifies and communicates trending underwriting practices that could impact the team’s book of business.

What We'll Like About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in insurance, finance, risk management, business or related field or equivalent work experience
  • Five or more years underwriting experience in workers’ compensation and/or casualty Insurance, workers’ compensation or commercial multi-line product line, or applicable agency experience.
  • Professional insurance designations (CPCU, ARM) a plus.
  • Proven marketing and presentation skills
  • Strong working knowledge of state applicable Workers’ Compensation rules and regulations.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with ability to deliver superior customer service.
  • Highly motivated and results-oriented
  • Able to travel with occasional overnights.
  • Valid driver’s license.

 Physical Requirements

 Work takes place in a semi paperless environment within an office setting or home office setting, using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopies, which requires being stationary for extended periods of time.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms and work with close vision. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds. Work is performed indoors with little to no exposure to extreme outdoor weather conditions. Travel as needed.

The base pay posted is just one component of SFM’s total compensation package. The salary range listed represents the full compensation range for this position. Job title and starting pay will be based on the selected candidate’s relevant knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience, and education, if applicable as well as internal equity with other employees in the same job classification. #SFM  * qualified applicants may be considered for a higher level position, and base pay for more experienced positions is $99,000.00 to $138,000.00.
