Summary of Job Duties:
The prospective candidate will be responsible for assisting the Livestock Technician in the management of the UAPB Livestock Farm, which includes managing livestock animals (E.g., Cows, goats, sheep, chickens, rabbits, etc.). The candidate will assist the Livestock Technician and the UAPB farm manager. The candidate will also have the following responsibilities. May have to work weekends occasionally.
Qualifications:
• Assist with daily livestock care, including feeding, watering, and monitoring animal health and behavior.
• Support research projects by collecting, recording, and organizing experimental data.
• Maintain accurate records of animal weights, feed intake, growth performance, and breeding activities.
• Assist with handling and restraining animals during research procedures and routine health checks.
• Prepare research plots, pens, and equipment for experiments and demonstrations.
• Monitor environmental conditions such as temperature, soil moisture, and pasture quality.
• Assist faculty, farm managers, and graduate students with ongoing agricultural and livestock studies.
• Maintain cleanliness and biosecurity standards in the barns, pens, and research facilities.
• Operate and maintain basic farm equipment and tools safely and efficiently.
• Participate in educational outreach activities, demonstrations, and student training events.
• Support sustainable farming and conservation practices implemented on the farm.
