At AAA, your success is our success. As an Automotive Repair Manager, we can offer you:
  • The starting base compensation for this position is $76,307 to $111,164 annually. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, geographic location, and other job-related factors as permitted by law.
  • This position is eligible to earn monthly incentive pay based upon store sales and overall performance.
  • You'll get Sundays off each week, and another day during the week off dependent on business need.

Position Objective: (Basic Purpose of Position)
  • The primary purpose of this position is to drive sales attainment and ensure the profitability of the automotive facility by strategically managing inventory and fostering a high-performance sales environment. this role focuses on achieving net income growth through effective pricing strategies, promotional initiatives, and optimizing the sales process. Additionally, this position is responsible for implementing comprehensive technical and sales training programs to enhance the skills of the sales team, ensuring they are well-equipped with product knowledge and effective sales techniques. By cultivating a motivated and knowledgeable workforce, this position plays a crucial role in enhancing customer satisfaction and loyalty, ultimately contributing to the facilities overall success.

Major Job Functions, Duties and Responsibilities:
Staff Management and Development:
  • Effectively hire staff and schedule associates to meet changing business needs.
  • Evaluate staff performance, provide coaching, and counsel associates to ensure quality development, effectiveness, and productivity.
  • Identify and schedule seminars, training programs, and schooling for technicians, service writers, and other personnel to maintain a technically competent staff.

Customer Service and Relations:
  • Consistently monitor and assure high-quality customer service by associates on a daily basis.
  • Review necessary repairs with customers, address questions or concerns, and resolve problems or special requests, including authorizing special member services.
  • Effectively and efficiently respond to customer complaints, maintaining high oversight both in the shop and at the front counter.

Operational Oversight:
  • Oversee the scheduling of repairs and maintenance, continually review facility efficiency, and implement changes to ensure optimal operations.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports on Car Care facility operations for management review.
  • Prepare and adhere to income and expense budgets, ensuring the facility meets annual revenue and net income goals while achieving budgeted sales.

Technical Assistance and Compliance:
  • Provide technical assistance to Car Care associates as needed.
  • Act as the Health & Safety Officer, managing safety and shop compliance issues in line with OSHA and local laws.
  • Stay current on EPA and environmental laws, advising the organization of changes affecting operations and services.

Business Development and Community Engagement:
  • Develop external business relationships to generate business and enhance the AAA Club Alliance (ACA) image in the community.
  • Establish partnerships with vendors to offer a complete range of products and services beneficial to ACA.
  • Participate in local and national automotive organizations to enhance ACA's position within the industry and commitment to a cleaner environment.

Process Improvement and Performance Management:
  • Recommend process improvement opportunities to leadership to ensure ACA remains competitive.
  • Facilitate the effective use of tools to maintain compliance and align with Key Performance Indicators.
  • Lead the team to exceed Customer Satisfaction and Quality scores while meeting productivity goals.

General Responsibilities:
  • Maintain awareness of car care products and AAA's services to provide exceptional member and client experiences.
  • Practice ACA Shared Values, perform all related duties as required, and undertake other tasks as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements/Qualifications (Education/Training, Experience and Certifications)
  • Associate's degree or equivalent required. A combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 6 years in the automotive industry required. 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role preferred. National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification as a "Master Automotive Technician" strongly preferred.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid operator's license; 5 years driving experience with an excellent record and the ability to operate both automatic and manual transmissions on passenger vehicles and light and medium duty trucks.
  • Satisfactory pre-and post-employment screening results.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities(Those necessary for competent performance of the job)
  • Ability to work autonomously managing a retail automotive services operation.
  • Ability to work with automotive diagnostic equipment and provide technical guidance to team.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and regional/corporate support departments.
  • Advanced knowledge and ability to work with PC-based (Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel) and automotive computer equipment and software applications.
  • Effective organizational and analytical skills.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively interaction with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to respond to customer inquiries and refer customers to the associates who can best assist them with Car Care, Travel, Insurance, Membership, Discounts, Financial Services, and other Retail products.
  • Ability to read and interpret financial data and reports.

WORKING CONDITIONS (Under typical circumstances)
  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is exposed to an automotive shop environment. The noise level in the work environment may at times be loud. The job requires working with automotive tools and equipment, exposure to changes in temperature, and may involve exposure to dust or fumes.
  • The physical requirements of the job are for associates to lift equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, and to stand for prolonged periods of time. Must have complete dexterity and fine and gross motor skills. This job title is classified as "Safety Sensitive".
