Construction Staff Accountant

Position Overview

Our client is seeking a Construction Staff Accountant to support the day-to-day accounting functions of a growing construction organization. While the role initially includes construction accounts payable responsibilities, the primary focus is on construction accounting, job costing, vendor compliance, and financial accuracy. Key Responsibilities
  • Process construction-related invoices and maintain accurate accounting records.

  • Perform job cost coding and support project cost tracking.

  • Manage construction accounts payable and vendor relationships.

  • Review and maintain Certificates of Insurance (COIs), lien waivers, and vendor compliance documentation.

  • Monitor paid-when-paid payment requirements.

  • Assist with month-end close and general ledger activities.

  • Support project accounting and financial reporting.

  • Assist with the implementation and ongoing optimization of Procore.

  • Collaborate with project managers and accounting leadership to ensure financial accuracy.

  • Take on expanded accounting responsibilities as the role develops.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.

  • 2โ€“5+ years of accounting experience.

  • Construction accounting experience is required.

  • Strong understanding of:

    • Construction job costing

    • Construction accounts payable

    • Lien waivers

    • Certificates of Insurance (COIs)

    • Paid-when-paid construction payment processes

    • Vendor compliance

    • Project accounting

  • Experience with QuickBooks Enterprise is preferred.

  • Experience with Procore is a strong plus.
