About This OpportunityWe have an exciting opportunity available for a Safer Communities Principal Advisor, where you'll provide expert, trauma-informed responses to sensitive and complex matters affecting students and staff, including gender-based violence, behavioural risks and other wellbeing concerns.
Joining a newly established, values-led team, you'll contribute your expertise in intake, risk assessment and coordinated care while helping shape consistent, best-practice responses across UQ. This is a meaningful, impact-driven role where your work directly supports safer outcomes for the University community.
Key responsibilities will include:
Deliver expert, trauma-informed support in complex and sensitive situations
Conduct intake, triage and risk assessments to guide safe and coordinated responses
Collaborate across the University to manage behavioural risk and wellbeing matters
Support case coordination, safety planning and continuous service improvement
This role includes the opportunity and expectation to travel to UQ campuses at Dutton Park, Gatton, and Herston, while being predominantly based at St Lucia.
About You Relevant qualifications in psychology, social work, counselling, criminology or a related field, or equivalent applied experience
Proven experience delivering trauma-informed, culturally responsive and person-centred support in complex environments
Strong capability in intake, triage, risk assessment, safety planning and case coordination
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
Sound professional judgement, with confidence managing sensitive matters with discretion and care
Commitment to reflective practice, supervision and ongoing professional growth
