The property offers 73 guest rooms and 12 single-level penthouse residences, all with sweeping views of Idaho's Rocky Mountains. Guests and owners will enjoy an elevated level of personalized service and an extensive amenity suite, including a 5,700-square-foot full-service spa, a 1,500-square-foot fitness center, six treatment rooms, an indoor thermal pool, cold plunge, sauna, and steam rooms. A state-of-the-art rooftop observatory and outdoor terrace bar will provide unobstructed access to the Central Idaho Dark Sky Reserve, the first designated preserve of its kind in the U.S. and one of only 12 globally.

Overview

Located at the southeast corner of Main Street and River Street East-the gateway to downtown Ketchum, Idaho-and just minutes from Bald Mountain's River Run base, this exceptional property will debut as Sun Valley's first luxury hotel and for-sale residence offering. As part of the Viceroy team, you'll help bring our signature experiential hospitality to one of North America's most iconic, year-round mountain destinations.

The Barback is responsible for supporting bar operations by maintaining cleanliness, organization, stock levels, and overall operational readiness throughout all assigned food & beverage outlets. This role assists bartenders and service teams in delivering exceptional guest experiences while ensuring efficient bar operations aligned with Viceroy standards.

Barbacks are expected to support multiple food & beverage outlets throughout the resort, including restaurant, lounge, pool, banquet, and special event operations, with scheduling and outlet assignments flexing based on business demands and operational needs.

Responsibilities
  • Employees must at all times be attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to all guests, managers, and fellow employees.
  • Stock bar areas with liquor, wine, beer, mixers, juices, soft drinks, garnishes, glassware, ice, and operational supplies.
  • Request, retrieve, verify, organize, and properly store bar requisitions and deliveries.
  • Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of all bar and service areas throughout the shift.
  • Assist bartenders with operational support to ensure efficient and seamless service flow.
  • Clear glassware, remove trash, restock supplies, and maintain presentation standards throughout all assigned outlets.
  • Develop and maintain working knowledge of all beverage offerings, menu items, and outlet operations.
  • Complete all opening, closing, side work, and operational checklists according to department standards.
  • Operate and maintain bar equipment, tools, and service areas safely and efficiently.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, safety, and responsible alcohol service procedures.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests and operational needs.
  • Support banquet, pool, lounge, restaurant, and special event operations as business demands require.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of storage areas, coolers, and back-of-house beverage spaces.
  • Utilize proper communication and teamwork to support overall food & beverage operations.
  • Attend required meetings, trainings, and departmental lineups.
  • Maintain regular attendance, punctuality, professional appearance, and grooming standards.
  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction through professionalism, efficiency, and attention to detail.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • Previous barback, restaurant, hotel, resort, or hospitality experience preferred.
  • Previous high-volume or multi-outlet food & beverage experience preferred.
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to interact professionally with guests and team members.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and remain organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain a positive, professional, and service-oriented demeanor at all times.
  • Ability to work efficiently while maintaining cleanliness and operational standards.
  • Ability to stand and move throughout the entire shift.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds and frequently move up to 20 pounds.
  • Evening, weekend, holiday, and flexible shift availability required based on operational demands.
  • Must maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all guest and operational matters.
