This position will work within a variety of specialty areas within the Specialty Clinic and will be responsible for patient preparation, administrating all nursing duties as designated by the provider (physicians and physician assistants), and maintaining patient records.


 Responsibilities:

  • Attend and assist providers.
  • Assess and document patient care.
  • Contact other provider’s offices, laboratories, radiologists, etc. on behalf of the providers.
  • Maintain relationships with patients.
  • Using the nursing process and SRMC resources, provides care and/or services as directed by the provider to patients.
  • Utilize knowledge of disease, illness, and injury when providing care.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe, effective care environment conducive to the optimal health and dignity of the patient.
  • Interview patients and determine patient status.
  • Communicate patient status and changes in patient status to the provider in a timely manner through concise, appropriate communication method and documentation.
  • Document in medical records all services that are performed for patients, according to protocol.
  • Assist with coordinating patient referrals to appropriate healthcare providers and services, including physicians and other specialized care as needed.
  • Assist providers in exam rooms.
  • Help set up and clean clinics and procedures.
  • Administer medications and treatments following established protocols.
  • Monitor and record response to medications, treatments, and procedures accurately and legibly.
  • Use standardized teaching tools to counsel patients in groups or one-to-one basis on topics designed by the provider.
  • Cross-trained for duties within the Specialty Clinic to support other providers as needed.
  • Provide care appropriate for the neonate and the pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients served based on demonstrated knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
  • Provide guidance and support to certified nursing assistants related to patient care and provider preferences. 
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

 Requirements:

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing program. 
  • License as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse in the State of Nebraska.
  • Prefer 1-3 years of clinical experience. New graduates considered.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
