Position Summary

Join our collaborative team as a Technical Program Manager, Technical Sourcing Engineering (BioChem) at Thermo Fisher Scientific, where you'll advance critical initiatives that enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. In this role, you will develop, contribute, and/or lead global sourcing strategic initiatives to drive business performance at the division and category procurement levels.  You'll coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery, maintain detailed project plans, and oversee budgets and resources. Working with stakeholders at all levels, you'll facilitate communications, monitor progress, and ensure alignment with organizational goals. Ability to verbally communicate technical strategies and then translate those strategies into an accurate concise written document is important for success.  Through strong stakeholder engagement and disciplined project management practices, you will help advance Thermo Fisher Scientific’s mission while enabling continuous improvement across the organization. Primary attention is on the Chemicals, Biochemicals, and Biologicals commodities. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Experienced leader or project manager of cross-functional teams- facilitating communication, decision making, and ensuring alignment with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement strategies & sound recommendations based on both quantitative and qualitative inputs with intuitive understanding of quality, manufacturing, and financial drivers.
  • Execute focused global sourcing strategies to drive new value engineering programs in partnership with suppliers, sites, and divisions spanning the Americas, EMEA, and APAC regions.
  • Manage the CVEC BioChem project portfolio, including initiatives related to Productivity Improvements and Technology Transfer.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, including scope, schedules, budgets, resource planning, risk management, and communication strategies.
  • Lead projects from initial concept through implementation and closure, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Track project performance and ensure expected business benefits and outcomes are achieved.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma/GED is a minimum requirement with 15+ years applicable experience.
  • Or a degree in a related science or engineering field with applicable experience: Bachelor’s +>3 years’ experience preferred; Master’s degree +2-3 years’ experience preferred; PhD in science +0-2 years’ experience preferred
  • Project Management certification is a plus
  • Continuous improvement experience (PPI, Lean / Six Sigma certification) is a plus

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Project management experience required, leading complex, cross-functional initiatives. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.
  • Strong proficiency in project management tools (MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge/Experience in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Biochemistry, or related subject areas.
  • Capable of leading or supporting cross-functional project teams.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) – ability to communicate across all levels internally and externally
  • Excellent problem-solving skills involving science and engineering.
  • Ability to translate complex issues into clear insights and actionable plans.
  • Flexibility and understanding of business impact to address immediate priorities and still manage deadlines with longer-term projects and initiatives.
  • Knowledge of established Quality Systems, ISO regulations, Regulatory processes with respect to market access, and/or cGMP.
  • Thrives in a multifaceted work environment; has ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • Attention to detail and exudes ability to be customer focused.
  • Understanding manufacturing processes, documentation, testing, and quality requirements for materials and finished goods manufactured for and/or by Thermo Fisher.
  • Experience in regulated industries such as pharmaceutical, medical device, or life sciences preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a professional environment.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to travel domestically/internationally approximately <30% of the time.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in New York is $83,300.00–$111,100.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
