Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Intramural & Recreation is seeking a motivated individual interested in collegiate recreation, intramural sports, and student engagement to join our team as an Intramural Sports Intern.

Embry-Riddle Intramural Sports engages more than 1,300 unique participants annually through approximately 15 leagues, tournaments, and special events each semester while employing nearly 40 student staff members. This internship provides hands-on experience in league operations, student staff leadership, event management, marketing, and participant engagement within a fast-paced collegiate recreation environment.

This is a full-time, 10-month stipend position running August through May with negotiable start and end dates. The position includes a stipend of $25,200. Hours will vary, but work will primarily take place Monday through Friday nights with occasional weekend responsibilities. Reporting directly to the Director of Intramural & Recreation, this position will play a key leadership role in the administration and daily operations of assigned intramural sports, leagues, tournaments, and special events.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the overall development and enhancement of the intramural sports program through league operations, participant engagement initiatives, and special events

  • Recruit, train, supervise, schedule, mentor, and evaluate student officials

  • Provide leadership and operational oversight for approximately 40 student employees, including officials, marketing and promotional staff

  • Serve as a primary lead for assigned intramural sport leagues, tournaments, and special events

  • Oversee facility preparation, event setup/breakdown, equipment management, and operational readiness for assigned intramural sports and events

  • Assist with maintaining safe, organized, and game-ready intramural facilities and activity spaces

  • Lead officials' training sessions and assist with league communication and sport education initiatives

  • Assist with league scheduling, game operations, and participant communication

  • Coordinate and promote intramural leagues, tournaments, special events, and engagement initiatives through print, digital, and social media marketing

  • Create graphics, videos, and promotional materials for marketing and engagement initiatives

  • Support administrative functions including scheduling, program assessment, and operational planning

  • Assist with enforcement of departmental policies, procedures, and risk management practices

  • Provide excellent customer service while fostering a positive and inclusive recreational environment

  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Recreation, Education, Business, or a related field

  • Knowledge of intramural sports rules, policies, and trends

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills

  • Awareness of safety and risk management concerns

  • Experience with officiating, intramural sports, event management, or campus recreation preferred

  • Experience with graphic/video editing software such as Canva, Photoshop, CapCut, or similar platforms preferred

  • Familiarity with IMLeagues or other recreation management software preferred
