Position Summary
The Town of Breckenridge Recreation Department is seeking a dedicated and customer service oriented individual for the position of Sports & Events Coordinator. This position is responsible for the planning, development, implementation, and oversight of a wide variety of recreation programs and services that support the Department's mission and enhance the community's quality of life. Working with a high degree of independence under the guidance of Division Managers, the Sports & Events Coordinator leads a functional program area by managing personnel, budgets, guest relations, facilities and equipment, program development, and safety and risk management while ensuring exceptional customer experiences.
The Sports & Events Coordinator oversees the day-to-day operation of youth and adult sports programs, leagues, lessons, races, events, and other recreation activities. Responsibilities include recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating program staff; developing innovative programs that meet community needs; coordinating marketing and registration efforts; and ensuring all activities are safe, organized, and delivered in accordance with industry best practices. This role plays a vital part in fostering a culture of safety, outstanding customer service, and operational excellence, ensuring every program is welcoming, well-managed, and memorable for participants of all ages.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Bachelors Degree in Recreation or other related field preferred.
  • Two (2) years minimum direct work experience required in specified field required (e.g., recreation, sports, event planning, etc.).
  • Two (2) of more years of direct employee supervision experience required, including experience with supervising, hiring, training, evaluating and leadership of staff.
  • Experience and ability to proficiently use a variety of computer programs, including but not limited to: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Publisher, MS Outlook, recreation program software (e.g., Active, Kaizen), and UKG Ready timekeeping software.
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES REQUIRED:
  • Basic CPR, AED, and First Aid Certifications are required within 60 days of hire.
  • Preventing Disease Transmission (PDT) required within 60 days of hire.
  • Valid Colorado Driver's license required within 30 days of employment.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Five (5) or more years of work experience as a supervisor or higher level.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in recreational sports and/or events programming and activities.
  • One (1) or more years experience officiating high school or adult sports leagues (basketball, volleyball, kickball, lacrosse, softball).
  • Previous experience with developing, implementing, and monitoring budget(s) preferred.

Additional Information
Hiring Pay Range: $2,256 - $2,688 bi-weekly or $58,656 - $69,888 if annualized.
Full Pay Range: $2,256 - $3,120 bi-weekly or $58,656 - $81,120 if annualized.

WORK SCHEDULE:
The work schedule for this position varies widely, dependent upon operational and staffing needs. The individual in this position must be flexible in terms of availability and may be required to work shifts as needed to meet business needs, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
