Job description

Part-Time Spanish Language Teacher

Position Summary

Wheeler Avenue Christian Academy (WACA) is seeking a part-time Spanish Language Teacher to provide engaging, age-appropriate Spanish language instruction to students in our toddler, preschool, and kindergarten classrooms.

The Spanish teacher will introduce children to the Spanish language through interactive lessons, songs, movement, stories, games, conversation, and hands-on activities. The goal is to create a positive and enjoyable early language-learning experience while building foundational Spanish vocabulary and comprehension.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide Spanish language instruction to toddlers, preschool students, and kindergarten students.
  • Develop and implement age-appropriate Spanish lessons based on the developmental level of each age group.
  • Introduce basic Spanish vocabulary, phrases, greetings, numbers, colors, shapes, family words, classroom vocabulary, and other appropriate concepts.
  • Incorporate songs, music, stories, movement, games, visuals, and hands-on activities to make learning engaging.
  • Encourage children to participate in Spanish through repetition, conversation, and interactive activities.
  • Adjust instruction to meet the varying developmental and language abilities of young children.
  • Maintain a positive, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment.
  • Work collaboratively with classroom teachers and administration to coordinate Spanish instruction with classroom themes and learning objectives.
  • Communicate appropriately and professionally with teachers, administrators, and families.
  • Maintain appropriate classroom management and follow all WACA policies and procedures.
  • Follow all health, safety, supervision, and state licensing requirements applicable to the care and education of young children.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and conduct consistent with the Christian values and mission of Wheeler Avenue Christian Academy.

Qualifications

  • Fluency in Spanish required; native or highly proficient Spanish speaker preferred.
  • Previous experience teaching Spanish or working with young children preferred.
  • Experience working with toddlers, preschoolers, and/or kindergarten students preferred.
  • Knowledge of early childhood development and age-appropriate teaching practices.
  • Ability to create fun, engaging, and interactive language-learning experiences.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patient, dependable, energetic, and nurturing.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with classroom teachers and administration.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe, respectful, and positive environment for children.
