Job description


Telemundo Austin is looking for an experienced Managing Editor/Anchor for our multi-platform Spanish-language newscasts.
The successful candidate must have impeccable editorial judgment and a wide-ranging knowledge of current events, politics, government and culture. This role is responsible for the editorial content of daily newscasts and digital platforms, including approving scripts and writing stories, headlines, teases and news updates in a professional, engaging style using fair and accurate language.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish are essential for broadcast and digital platforms. The Managing Editor/Anchor must demonstrate strong leadership, team-building skills and the ability to guide editorial decisions across platforms.
Responsibilities include approving scripts, developing original story ideas, enterprise reporting, creative storytelling, anchoring newscasts, contributing to digital content and representing the station at community and station events.
This is not an entry-level position. Candidates must be able to work under deadline pressure, maintain a flexible schedule and be available for community and station appearances.
The ideal candidate will have:

  • Sharp video shooting and editing skills
  • Exemplary communication skills

Requirements and Qualifications:
  • You must have at least 3 years of on-air experience in Spanish language newsroom, preferably with management duties
  • Commitment to journalistic standards of ethics and accuracy
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and viewers
  • Exceptional written communications skills on digital, social media and broadcast
  • Strong editorial judgment and a proven ethical foundation
