Job description

Description:

For more than 60 years, Tyndale has helped readers discover the life-giving truths of Godโ€™s Word. Today weโ€™re one of the largest independently owned Christian publishers in the world. Though our business has grown, our mission remains the same: to open Godโ€™s Word to as many as possible in language they can relate to and understand.

Do you have a passion for shaping meaningful content and a heart for advancing the gospel through publishing? As a Spanish Editor at Tyndale House Publishers, you will play a key role in developing and refining Spanish-language resources that impact readers around the world. This role goes beyond traditional editingโ€”it is about partnering with authors, shaping the development of impactful manuscripts, and ensuring every project meets the highest standards of clarity, quality, and theological integrity. Success in this role requires strong bilingual expertise, sound editorial judgment, and the ability to manage multiple projects with precision and care. At its core, this position blends editorial excellence, author collaboration, and mission-driven workโ€”making it an ideal fit for someone who thrives at the intersection of language, faith, and storytelling.

What You'll Do

  • Edit and develop Spanish-language manuscripts for publication, ensuring clarity, quality, and alignment with Tyndale standards
  • Partner with authors throughout the writing and editing process, providing thoughtful feedback and guidance
  • Evaluate manuscript submissions and help determine publishing strategy and editorial direction
  • Collaborate with copyeditors, freelancers, and internal teams to move projects from concept to completion
  • Review outlines and draft content during development to shape strong, compelling final manuscripts
  • Prepare and manage editorial materials including style sheets, galleys, and supplemental content (e.g., back cover copy, discussion questions)
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and communicate proactively timelines and challenges
  • Participate in editorial team meetings, contributing to planning and continuous improvement
  • Mentor and support other editors as needed
  • Represent Tyndale at industry events and contribute to the broader publishing community

Skills and Qualifications Needed

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree or equivalent editorial experience
  • 3โ€“5 years of professional editorial experience
  • Fluency in both Spanish and English (written and verbal)
  • Strong understanding of grammar, style, and the editorial process
  • Deep knowledge of the Bible and evangelical Christian thought
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Proficiency with word processing and editorial tools
  • Experience working with freelance editors and cross-functional teams preferred
  • Experience mentoring or leading other editors preferred
  • Experience in book publishing, especially Christian or Spanish-language publishing preferred
  • Background in theological studies or ministry-related fields preferred
  • Personal alignment with and adherence to the Bible as Godโ€™s Word, and agreement with our Statement of Faith
