Job description

JOB PURPOSE

The Solutions Engineer is responsible for assessing, developing and supporting the implementation oflogisticssolutions that improve current and prospective clients' business models.The individual will possess strong evaluation skills as you review current state, using appropriate tools/diagrams. Detailed data analysis will complement the process to ensure an ideal future state is designed. As an integral part of the Transportation Insight sales process, the Solutions Engineer will be a hands-on leader.

This role is responsible for supporting the deal cycle with an emphasis on strategic thought, business acumen, creative problem-solving, flexibility, and sound judgment.The Solutions Engineer will collaborate with key cross-functional stakeholders, senior-level team members and prospective clients to design a solution that meets client-stated needs/requirements, can be operated by the organization, and that is profitable.

The individual in this role brings demonstrated skills in consultative selling, supply chain management, TMS system implementation, project management and is able to apply these skills effectively across functional departments. They are able to price complex multi-mode servicesolutions and provide key inputs for the production, demonstration and presentation of documents to prospective clients.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to effectively communicate the value and differentiators of Transportation Insight as a logistics partner, as well as our core competencies of services across all modes

  • Gather client requirements and understand the key drivers for delivering value-based supply chain improvements.

  • Assess a validated prospects' current supply chain program by documenting current state.

  • Coordinate the assessment process for assigned validated prospects. Hold the internal organization accountableformeeting assigned timelines.

  • Understand the client's systems/applications used in current state, overall objectives and requirements to propose the best solution for their needs.

  • Work with a cross-functional delivery team to develop a solutions strategy and operational framework.

  • Participate in the solution design process by facilitating prospect strategy meetings and coordinating internal resources.

  • Document the future solution to help with the production of presentations and other documentation as needed

  • Help create pricing strategies for Transportation Insight service offerings that are both competitive and attractive to prospective clients.

  • Assist sales personnel, as needed, in demonstrating technology platforms that lead to closure of new business.

  • Effectively communicate with prospects and clients at the necessary pace, utilizing phone, web and on site as appropriate.

  • Collect information on client's unfulfilled needs and potential service improvements and report with recommendations to Solutions leadership

  • Assess from continuous improvement standpoint the standard approach for the transitioning of clients from the sales organization to implementation/account management teams.

  • Support ongoing improvement efforts by documenting best practices.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • BS degree in business or related field. MBA is preferred and required if Bachelor's degree is not in business or related field.

  • Experienced logistics professional with 5+ (five) years of experience in Supply Chain management related fields.

  • Minimum 4 (four) years of complex, consultative, solutions experience is required.

  • Direct consulting experience of transportation, logistics, and/ or TMS at the C-Suite decision-making level

SUPPORTING SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Proven success in consistently driving revenue-generating solutions with tangible results.

  • Advanced experience working with Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word,PowerPoint, Outlook, andVisio).

  • LEAN / Six Sigma Certification or Experience a plus.

  • Detailed oriented, self-starter with a strong work ethic.

  • Displaying leadership at the contributor level

  • Continuous learner & diligence in development of individual growth goals

  • Ability to manage multiple projects at any given time and be able to prioritize and meet deadlines.

  • Strong collaborator in working with internal operations teams in solution development stages

  • Possess excellent organizational skills with the flexibility to adapt to change under stress and within tight deadlines.

  • Effective problem solver, able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gather and analyze information skillfully, & develop alternative solutions when necessary.

  • Strong technical skills, including project planning, presentation, and general business applications.

  • Exceptional communication skills (both written and oral)

  • Ability to operate under minimal supervision and time constraints.

SCHEDULING

This is a full-time benefits-eligible position, working Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. An employee in this position must be available to work occasionally on weekends and evenings, during peak periods

TRAVEL

Local travel and out of state travel is required and can be up to 15% of the time.
