Position Overview
We are seeking a Solar Project Manager who will take full ownership of solar projects from post-sale through completion. This role combines field execution, client communication, scheduling, permitting coordination, and operational oversight.
Core Responsibilities
Project Management & Execution
• Manage solar projects from contract to final inspection and PTO
• Schedule installations and ensure timelines are met
• Conduct site walkthroughs and oversee project execution
• Perform or coordinate quality inspections
• Commission and troubleshoot solar systems as needed
Permitting & Planning Coordination
• Work closely with Permit Technician to submit and obtain permits
• Order and review solar plans for accuracy
• Track permit status and ensure projects move forward without delays
• Schedule and coordinate final inspections
Client Communication & Experience
• Serve as the main point of contact for clients during project execution
• Provide updates on timelines, scheduling, and progress
• Meet with clients on-site when needed
• Resolve service issues and ensure client satisfaction
Subcontractor Management & QA
• Coordinate and manage subcontractors for solar installations
• Hold subcontractors accountable for quality, timelines, and performance
• Ensure installations meet company standards and pass inspections
Materials & Vendor Coordination
• Order all materials required for solar projects
• Ensure materials are available on-site prior to installation
• Maintain relationships with vendors and ensure cost-effective purchasing
• Track commonly used materials and coordinate with team on inventory needs
Sales & Pre-Construction Support
• Assist sales team with site walks and project feasibility
• Provide feedback on project costs and execution challenges
• Help update pricing based on real-world install conditions
Project Tracking & Operational Oversight
• Maintain accurate project schedules and status updates
• Track progress across multiple active projects
• Coordinate with internal team to ensure alignment
• Identify and solve bottlenecks proactively
Qualifications
• 3–5+ years of experience in solar project management or similar role
• Strong understanding of residential solar installation processes
• Experience with permitting, inspections, and utility coordination
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience managing subcontractors and field teams
