Job description

Summary:

We are representing a mechanical contractor hiring a Senior Project Engineer to support HVAC construction projects in CA. This position assists the Project Manager in all phases of mechanical project execution, including budgeting, scheduling, submittals, and vendor coordination. Ideal for candidates with 5+ years of experience in commercial HVAC or mechanical systems, this role offers growth into future leadership while managing technical details across multiple project phases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Project Manager in overseeing mechanical/HVAC scopes from preconstruction through closeout

  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and purchase orders

  • Communicate with clients, subcontractors, and field teams regarding project status

  • Maintain project budgets, manpower logs, and construction schedules

  • Support issue resolution and identify corrective actions as needed

  • Track and verify submittals, equipment specifications, and material deliveries

  • Contribute to project planning, vendor sourcing, and quality assurance activities

  • Participate in meetings and manage internal documentation using software such as Procore, Microsoft Project, and Bluebeam

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer in HVAC, mechanical, or MEP-related construction

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Mechanical Engineering preferred
