Job description

Project Engineer

As a Project Engineer, you will assist the Project Manager and Superintendents in preparing documentation and ensuring smooth project execution from procurement to completion. Strong teamwork and communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities:
  • Interpret and understand project plans and specifications.
  • Gather submittal data and shop drawings from subcontractors.
  • Review subcontractor submittals to ensure compliance with project plans and specifications.
  • Utilize software such as Prolog and Submittal Exchange to input and track submittal data.
  • Obtain and review subcontractor/vendor quotes, submitting them for Project Manager approval.
  • Create and maintain logs using all Specification Sections in coordination with Project Managers and clients.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key vendors (subcontractors, suppliers, engineers, etc.).
  • Order materials and assist with material takeoffs in collaboration with the Site Superintendent.
  • Support the Project Manager and Site Superintendent in scheduling, tracking, issue management, risk management, change management, and status reporting.
  • Create agendas for weekly meetings and internal project updates.
  • Prepare and submit Requests for Information (RFIs) and follow through to final acceptance.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with project management software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in a professional setting.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with vendors and team members.
  • Experience in inventory control and process improvement.

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or a related field (Preferred)
Experience:
  • Project Engineering: 1 year (Required)
  • Experience with RFI's and Submittal's (Required)
  • Experience with Federal Construction projects (Preferred).
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift 15 pounds at times, such as office supplies or small equipment.
  • Ability to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
  • May be required to do job walks at least once a month, or less.
