Software Manager Jobs in Ontario (NOW HIRING)

We're seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing team developing mission-critical software solutions within the aerospace sector. This is an exciting opportunity to influence the delivery of advanced aircraft systems while driving technical excellence, team development, and successful program execution.

As a key leader within the organization, you will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders including Program Management, Quality Assurance, Airworthiness, and Engineering teams to deliver innovative software solutions that support multiple customers and programs. You'll play a critical role in shaping engineering strategy, developing talent, and ensuring the successful execution of complex software projects.

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Oversee the successful delivery of software releases, ensuring commitments are met while managing dependencies, schedules, and technical challenges.
• Partner with Program Management, Quality Assurance, Airworthiness, and other stakeholders to align development activities with overall business and program objectives.
• Manage engineering resources across a portfolio of Canadian aerospace programs, balancing priorities and optimizing team performance.
• Drive team engagement and collaboration across multiple projects, technologies, and customer environments.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate technical and program risks related to software implementation, performance, and delivery.
• Support career development, succession planning, training initiatives, and performance management for engineering team members.
• Champion engineering best practices and continuous improvement throughout the software development lifecycle.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Proven experience leading software engineering teams, including people management, mentoring, performance development, and workforce planning.
• Strong experience in software development and the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Experience designing, developing, and deploying software for aircraft systems or other highly regulated, safety-critical environments.
• Solid understanding of software engineering principles, processes, standards, and methodologies.
• Experience working in Linux-based development environments.
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence technical and non-technical audiences.
• Highly organized and adaptable, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

• Experience working with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning technologies.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation.
• Familiarity with aerospace software certification and airworthiness standards, including DO-178C.

• Lead software development efforts that directly impact next-generation aerospace capabilities.
• Work alongside talented engineering professionals in a highly collaborative environment.
• Influence technical strategy and program success across multiple high-profile projects.
• Play a meaningful role in developing and mentoring the next generation of engineering talent.
• Contribute to innovative solutions within a growing and evolving technology landscape.

This is a Permanent position based out of Nepean, ON.

The pay range for this position is $122000.00 - $155000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
