About the Role
LexisNexis USA is seeking a Manager of Software Engineering to lead teams building enterprise software solutions for the legal departments of some of the world's largest organizations. Our product, a market-leading Enterprise Legal Management (ELM) platform, helps corporations manage legal work and control legal spending effectively.
Our teams solve complex challenges across areas such as Work Management, Financial Management, Vendor Management, and Contract Lifecycle Management, leveraging modern cloud technologies and AI-driven capabilities to deliver impactful solutions.
We are seeking a strong engineering leader who can effectively manage multiple teams, drive execution, and foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. This role requires a balance of technical depth, people leadership, and the ability to apply modern technologies-including AI-to enhance both product capabilities and development practices.
Responsibilities
• Lead, mentor, and manage software engineers across multiple agile teams
• Drive delivery of complex, cross-team initiatives across the full software development lifecycle
• Partner with Product, Architecture, and business stakeholders to define priorities and deliver high-impact solutions
• Provide technical oversight, including reviewing code, guiding design decisions, and ensuring alignment with engineering standards
• Ensure engineering best practices, including code quality, testing, and secure development standards
• Support and help administer development tools and quality platforms (e.g., SonarQube) to maintain high code quality and visibility
• Champion the adoption of AI tools and techniques to improve developer productivity and software quality
• Support system design and architectural decisions to ensure scalability, reliability, and performance
• Oversee planning, execution, and delivery across multiple concurrent workstreams
• Identify and remove obstacles to enable team success and maintain delivery momentum
• Contribute to hiring, onboarding, and performance management of engineering talent
• Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
• Guide teams in building and maintaining integrations with external customer systems and services
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years managing engineering teams
• Strong technical background in web application development using Java, Angular, AWS, and SQL-based data systems
• Demonstrated experience applying AI tools or capabilities within the software development lifecycle
• Proven ability to coach and develop engineers at varying levels of experience
• Ability to review, understand, and provide guidance on complex codebases
• Experience with code quality and development tools (e.g., SonarQube or similar platforms)
• Proven experience managing multiple teams and balancing competing priorities
• Strong understanding of software development best practices, including testing, CI/CD, and code quality
• Experience working in Agile environments and driving delivery across cross-functional teams
• Experience with application security and secure software development practices
• Understanding of penetration testing concepts and processes
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with business intelligence and analytics platforms (e.g., AWS QuickSight)
• Experience designing and implementing customer integrations (APIs, data exchange, third-party systems)
• Familiarity with enterprise SaaS platforms and large-scale distributed systems
• Experience driving adoption of AI-assisted development tools and practices across teams
• Hands-on experience using GitHub Copilot or similar AI-assisted development tools
