Job description

The Comfort Group is an award winning mechanical contractor serving clients in Middle Tennessee and North Alabama. We have extensive experience with projects such as: high-rise/urban, aerospace, commercial, education, hospitality, healthcare, laboratory, mission critical, industrial, manufacturing, municipal, multifamily, and others.  We are currently seeking candidates for an Assistant Project Manager for our Nashville office.

What you'll be doing:

  • Execute mechanical and plumbing takeoff using estimating software
  • Assist the Estimating Manager with preparing proposals
  • Solicit bids from material and equipment vendors and subcontractors
  • Review shop drawings and product data sheets for conformance to the contract documents
  • Draft subcontracts and purchase orders, order material for the job, and schedule subcontractors
  • Manage schedules, change orders, and RFIs
  • Pull mechanical and plumbing permits, and schedule inspections
  • Meet with the General Contractor and represent the Company
  • Coordinate work with other trades as needed

What you need for this position:

  • Be passionate about construction
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong intrapersonal skills
  • A good attitude, with a willingness to learn and a strong belief in our service culture
  • Be detail oriented, personally organized, with solid time management skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Bachelor's Degree in Building Science, Construction Management, Civil or Mechanical Engineering OR 5 years of experience in HVAC, plumbing, or welding OR some combination of work and education

Prior experience that would be useful:

  • Prior experience in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction industry
  • OSHA 10
  • Work for a contractor
  • Work as a project or field engineer for a contractor
  • Work as an Assistant Project Manager
  • Foreman or higher in HVAC, plumbing, or welding
