Meridian Health Services is currently seeking a part time Assistant Social Worker to work with our multidisciplinary inpatient psychiatric team located at River Bend Hospital, in West Lafayette, IN. The successful candidate effectively communicates (verbally and in writing) with clients, members of the treatment team, social service agencies, care providers, families, and others; utilizes available technology to communicate efficiently and provide for the protection and care of the individual; is able to use skills to de-escalate agitated persons; is able to understand and tolerate constructive criticism and accept input from many different team members.

Assistant Social Worker Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists Social Worker or Therapist in developing and writing treatment plans.
  • Produces positive treatment outcomes with individuals.
  • Assists in psychosocial assessments.
  • Provides individual and group treatment to patients.
  • Maintains relevant and timely progress/contact notes in the EMR system.
  • Assists in providing individual and group therapy.
  • Provides crisis intervention as trained.
  • Provides education to clients and/or family members.
  • Performs all duties in a manner consistent with Meridian Health Services standards, policies and procedures and regulations and in accordance with local, state and federal laws and with ethical standards of profession.
  • Actively participates in professional growth and continuing education activities.

We are seeking Assistant Social Worker candidates with the following qualities:

  • Must have earned a bachelors Degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field.
  • Experience working with persons with developmental and/or mental health challenges is preferred.
