Job Summary
Smart City Telecom is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Systems Administrator II to join our Information Technology team. The ideal candidate will bring a proactive attitude, strong technical expertise, and the ability to effectively support and enhance our network and system infrastructure. This is a hands-on position that provides critical support for end users, servers, networks, and IT operations - serving as a key contributor to the reliability, security, and scalability of our enterprise Windows environment.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
End-User & Desktop Support
  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for end-user IT service requests via phone, in-person, remote desktop tools, and ticketing systems.
  • Support deployment, imaging, configuration, and troubleshooting of Windows and macOS desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices (including Apple iOS).
  • Support asset lifecycle management: procurement, imaging, deployment, inventory tracking, and decommissioning.
  • Deliver clear and patient technical guidance to non-technical staff, embodying Smart City's commitment to brilliant service.

Server Administration
  • Administration and maintenance of Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022), including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
  • Support and maintain virtualization platforms including Hyper-V, VMware, and ProxMox; server provisioning, patching, and performance tuning.
  • Administration of Microsoft 365, Azure Active Directory (Entra ID), Microsoft Intune, SharePoint Online, and Exchange Online.
  • Perform routine maintenance and updates on IT systems, ensuring uptime, security, and performance standards are met.

Network Infrastructure
  • Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot local and wide area network infrastructure (LAN/WAN), wireless network, including Cisco and Ubiquiti switches, routers, Aps, and firewalls.
  • Administer firewall configurations (Cisco, Ubiquiti preferred) and maintain switch configuration documentation.

Security & Compliance
  • Participate in IT security operations including endpoint protection, patch management, vulnerability assessments, and access control.
  • Enforce endpoint security policies through Microsoft Intune compliance configurations and Microsoft Defender for Endpoint.
  • Support identity and access management across Azure AD, on-premises Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 services.

Documentation, Projects & Continuous Improvement
  • Maintain documentation related to infrastructure, system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Research hardware and software solutions; assist with procurement and vendor quote analysis.
  • Assist IT leadership in planning and implementing projects, capacity planning, and contributing to the annual IT budgeting process.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external vendors on IT-related initiatives.
  • Participate in after-hours support, system maintenance windows, and on-call rotation as required.

Required Experience
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in LAN/WAN support, desktop support, and Windows Server administration.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting IT security solutions, including antivirus, firewalls, and identity management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Group Policy, and PowerShell scripting; Apple iOS support experience.
  • Knowledge of Azure AD (Entra ID), Microsoft Intune, Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM/MECM), and cloud-based technologies.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (Hyper-V, VMware, ProxMox) and managing clustered environments.
  • Familiarity with Ubuntu/Linux systems and command-line tools.
  • Working knowledge of networking concepts: TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, QoS, NAT, and port forwarding.
  • Experience with firewall administration (Cisco, Ubiquiti preferred) and wireless network troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of endpoint management, system imaging, and deployment tools (e.g., Clonezilla, Windows Autopilot).
  • Experience using ticketing systems and IT asset management platforms (e.g., Lansweeper).

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Industry certifications: CompTIA Network+, Security+, Cisco CCNA, or Microsoft AZ-104 / MD-102 / MCP / MCSA / MCSE.
  • Experience supporting high-availability environments with tight SLAs.
  • Experience in a telecommunications or ISP environment is a plus.
