Carlson Distributing is seeking a Small Format Sales Associate to support our Small Format Sales Team throughout the Salt Lake market. This hands-on role combines sales support, merchandising, customer service, and route coverage while working with some of the most recognized beverage brands in the industry.

As a Small Format Sales Associate, you will work alongside experienced Sales Representatives to support customer accounts, maintain product displays, and provide route coverage when needed. This position offers valuable exposure to sales operations, customer relationship management, merchandising, and beverage distribution while serving retailers throughout the market.

Essential Job Functions
  • Support Small Format Sales Representatives within assigned territories
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with retailers and store personnel
  • Provide route coverage during vacations, leaves, and other absences
  • Merchandise products according to company and supplier standards
  • Build and maintain product displays
  • Stock shelves and restock coolers
  • Rotate products to ensure quality and freshness
  • Assist with store resets and promotional programs
  • Verify pricing, signage, and point-of-sale materials are accurate and properly displayed
  • Communicate professionally with customers and team members
  • Represent Carlson Distributing and supplier partners in a professional manner
Qualifications
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with customers and colleagues
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Experience in retail, merchandising, sales support, customer service, hospitality, delivery, or a related field is preferred
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
Physical Requirements

This is an active position that requires regular handling of beverage products and promotional materials.

The individual in this role frequently:

  • Moves, lifts, pushes, pulls, and handles products, displays, and equipment weighing up to 165 pounds
  • Positions themselves to stock, merchandise, rotate, and organize products
  • Travels between customer locations throughout the workday
  • Remains in a stationary position and moves throughout retail locations as needed
  • Works in coolers, back rooms, retail environments, and outdoor conditions
  • Reaches, bends, kneels, climbs, and performs other physical tasks necessary to execute job responsibilities
Work Environment
  • Work is performed primarily at customer locations throughout assigned territories
  • Regular exposure to varying weather conditions
  • Exposure to traffic and driving conditions during travel between accounts
  • Moderate noise levels in retail and warehouse environments
