What sales job pays the most commission?

Typically, sales jobs in industries like luxury real estate, high-end technology, or enterprise software tend to pay the highest commissions, often supplemented with bonuses and incentives for exceeding targets.

How much does a countertop salesman make?

A countertop salesperson typically earns between $40,000 and $70,000 annually, with compensation often including commissions based on sales performance. Earnings can vary depending on experience, location, and the complexity of projects handled.

What are some common challenges faced in a commission countertop sales role, and how can they be addressed?

A commission countertop sales role often involves managing a fluctuating income, building a strong client base, and staying updated with the latest trends in materials and design. Success in this position requires persistence in prospecting new clients and excellent follow-up with leads. To overcome these challenges, it's important to develop strong product knowledge, foster relationships with contractors and designers, and maintain a proactive approach to customer service. Regular collaboration with installation teams and showroom staff also helps ensure a smooth sales process and high client satisfaction.

Is it smart to take a commission-only job?

Commission-only sales jobs, such as countertop sales positions, can offer high earning potential but also carry income variability and financial risk. Success often depends on sales skills, product demand, and market conditions, so candidates should consider their ability to handle fluctuating income before accepting such roles.

What are commission countertop sales?

Commission countertop sales refer to a sales position where individuals sell countertop materials such as granite, quartz, marble, or laminate to customers and are compensated primarily through commissions on the sales they make. These sales professionals often work in showrooms, home improvement stores, or directly for manufacturers. Their responsibilities typically include advising clients, preparing quotes, managing orders, and coordinating installations. Success in this job relies on product knowledge, customer service skills, and the ability to close sales. Earnings can vary widely depending on sales volume and commission structure.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Commission Countertop Sales professional, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Commission Countertop Sales professional, you need strong product knowledge of countertop materials, sales acumen, and typically a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with CRM software, point-of-sale systems, and design visualization tools is often required. Outstanding interpersonal skills, active listening, and persuasive communication help build trust and close sales with clients. These skills ensure you can effectively match customer needs with the right products, maximize sales opportunities, and foster repeat business in a competitive retail environment.

Can you make $500,000 a year in sales?

Commission countertop sales professionals can potentially earn high incomes, but making $500,000 annually in sales is uncommon and depends on factors such as sales volume, commission rates, experience, and market demand. Achieving this level typically requires extensive experience, a large customer base, and high-value sales. Most sales roles do not guarantee such high earnings, and income varies widely across individuals and regions.

Job description

Showroom Sales Consultant

Location: Fort Wayne / Elkhart / Warsaw, Indiana Corridor

Compensation: $60,000โ€“$90,000 Base + Profit Sharing | Full-Time

Help Customers Bring Their Dream Projects to Life.

Bronwick LLC works with companies we admire.

We're currently working with our client to hire a Showroom Sales Consultant for a well-established, growing stone fabrication company serving Northern Indiana and surrounding markets. For more than 20 years, this company has built its reputation on exceptional craftsmanship, outstanding customer service, and long-term relationships with homeowners, builders, designers, and contractors.

If you enjoy working with people, have an eye for design, and love helping customers turn ideas into finished spaces they'll enjoy for years, this may be the opportunity you've been looking for.

This isn't simply a retail showroom position, and it isn't a commission-only sales environment.

You'll guide customers through one of the most exciting parts of building or remodeling a home, accurately quote their projects, and spend part of your week developing relationships with custom home builders throughout the region. It's a role that combines consultative sales, project quoting, customer service, and business development without becoming repetitive.

Recent marketing campaigns are expected to significantly increase showroom traffic, creating an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys converting qualified leads into satisfied customers.

What You'll Be Doing:

Consultative Showroom Sales

  • Welcome homeowners, remodelers, and custom home buyers into the showroom.
  • Guide customers through countertop selections for kitchens, bathrooms, bars, laundry rooms, and more.
  • Learn about each customer's vision and recommend the best products for their project.
  • Build accurate project quotes while sitting with the customer - there is no separate estimating department.
  • Help customers confidently move from inspiration to purchase.

Project Quoting

  • Measure project requirements from plans and specifications.
  • Build detailed, accurate quotes.
  • Answer customer questions regarding pricing, products, timelines, and installation.
  • Ensure every proposal is complete and accurate before moving into production.

Builder Relationship Development (Approximately 20%)

  • Visit builders, remodelers, contractors, and industry partners throughout the territory.
  • Build long-term relationships through face-to-face interaction.
  • Become a trusted resource for future countertop projects.
  • Generate repeat business through exceptional service rather than high-pressure sales.

What Makes This Opportunity Different?

Unlike many showroom positions, this role offers genuine variety. You'll spend your week:

  • Helping homeowners create beautiful spaces.
  • Pricing projects from start to finish.
  • Building relationships with custom builders.
  • Working alongside an experienced, collaborative leadership team.
  • Becoming a trusted advisor, not simply an order taker.

If you enjoy wearing multiple hats and staying engaged throughout the sales process, you'll thrive here. This role is ideal for someone looking for a careerโ€”not simply the next sales job.

Preferred Backgrounds -

Experience in any of the following industries translates well:

  • Countertops
  • Granite & Quartz
  • Stone Fabrication
  • Kitchen & Bath
  • Cabinetry
  • Flooring
  • Building Materials
  • Interior Design
  • Remodeling
  • Home Improvement
  • Custom Home Building
  • Construction Sales

Candidates with existing builder relationships throughout Northern Indiana, Southern Michigan, or the greater Fort Wayne / Elkhart / Warsaw region are especially encouraged to apply.

Compensation & Benefits -

Base Salary: $60,000โ€“$90,000

Plus:

  • Profit Sharing
  • Stable Compensation Structure
  • Full-Time Position
  • Long-Term Career Opportunity
  • Supportive Leadership Team
  • Established Company with Strong Reputation

This position is designed for someone who values stability, long-term growth, and being part of a successful team, not someone chasing the next commission plan.

What We're Looking For:

Required -

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to accurately prepare customer quotes.
  • Professional presentation.
  • Self-motivated and organized.
  • Comfortable meeting with customers both inside and outside the showroom.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred -

  • Stone or countertop sales experience.
  • Existing builder relationships.
  • Experience reading construction plans.
  • Design or kitchen & bath background.
  • Outside sales experience.
  • Business development experience.
  • Construction or building materials industry experience.

If you enjoy helping customers create beautiful spaces, value long-term relationships, and want to join a stable company where you can build a career, not just another sales job, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today!
