Machine Operator Slitting

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Ops. Manager, Slitter Operators are responsible for efficiently setting up machine, loading cores, removing  finished rolls, performing quality checks, properly labeling and packaging rolls, and filling out all paper work required in accordance with the job safety analyses (JSA’s), production schedule, set-up instructions, operating procedures, and quality specifications, etc.

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand and follow all JSA’s and safety procedures and policies.
  • Setting up UTECO slitter to slit product to customer specifications.
  • Load rolls of WIP (Work in Process) onto machine and thread machine.
  • Inspects quality of rolls before production and begins and continuously checks quality of line as it is produced.
  • Properly document quality inspections.
  • Check to be sure all guards are in place and working properly according to procedures.
  • Removes rolls in a timely manner, inspect, label, package, and stack on skid.
  • Weighs and documents all scrap

Candidate Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Eligible to work in the United States.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment background and drug screen.
  • Ability to work a 12-hour day on night shift
  • Work overtime as needed
  • Satisfactorily complete training courses as determined by management.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without accommodation
  • Must have basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, and divide)
  • Must be able to read a ruler
