Aerotek is hiring for Machine Operator โ€“ Converting Operator

Job Description

This role operates slitter and coating machines to manufacture adhesive tapes for the automotive industry. You will set up and run production equipment, monitor the process from large tape rolls to finished mini rolls, and ensure products meet quality and safety standards in a clean, organized, and climate-controlled facility. This position is a 2nd shift, 2p - 10p, Monday - Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and monitor slitter and coating machines to produce adhesive tapes according to work instructions.
  • Load and remove cores and mini rolls safely and efficiently from production equipment.
  • Inspect tape rolls for quality, identify defects, and ensure products meet specified standards.
  • Pack tape rolls accurately, including prepping and sealing cartons and stacking them on pallets.
  • Sharpen slitter knives at the frequency specified in work instructions using proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Clean slitter knives with the designated cleaner during each sharpening cycle while using proper PPE.
  • Operate hydraulic electric lift pallet jacks to move materials and finished goods within the facility.
  • Complete all required paperwork and labeling for each box, ensuring accuracy and traceability.
  • Maintain accurate quality system documentation in line with established procedures and standards.
  • Follow all policies and procedures related to TS16949 and adhere to documented work instructions verified to product numbers.
  • Maintain safe work practices at all times, including the safe use of sharps and compliance with safety guidelines.
  • Sustain housekeeping and organization in the converting area to support efficiency and safety.
  • Support and participate in 5S activities within the team to promote continuous improvement and workplace organization.
  • Perform general production, packaging, and assembly tasks as needed to support overall operations.
  • Troubleshoot basic production issues and escalate concerns when necessary to maintain product quality and machine performance.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned to support manufacturing and production goals.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in manufacturing and production environments, particularly in general labor, general production, or assembly roles.
  • Hands-on experience with machine operation, including slitter machines, coating machines, or similar production equipment.
  • Ability to operate hydraulic electric lift pallet jacks safely.
  • Experience in packaging and packing operations, including prepping, sealing, and palletizing cartons.
  • Comfort with inspection tasks and quality checks on finished products.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills to address routine production and equipment issues.
  • Ability to follow detailed work instructions and procedures verified to specific product numbers.
  • Capability to complete accurate paperwork, labeling, and quality system documents.
  • Commitment to maintaining safe work practices and proper use of PPE, including safe handling of sharps.
  • Willingness to support 5S and continuous improvement activities in a production setting.
  • Forward-thinking mindset and openness to learning new procedures and processes.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.50 - $18.00/hr.
