Job description


Job Purpose

The Slitter Attendant shall assist in the functions of Slitting material in accordance with plant policies and procedures. He/she will ensure a safe and compliant operation during his/her shift.

Duties & Responsibilities

Assisting slitter operator as needed.

Clean and lubricate machines.

Assist with setting up or tend machines to saw, cut, shear, slit, steel coil material.

Operation Monitoring - Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.

Review work orders and specifications to determine materials needed to be processed.

Handling and Moving Objects - Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things.

Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify defects.

Help Slitter Operator by performing duties of lesser skill, such as supplying or holding materials or tools, and cleaning work areas and equipment.

Refer to Slitter SOP.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Competencies

Education:

o High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.

Years of Experience:

o 1 year experience within OCTG pipe manufacturing industry.

Job Knowledge:

o At least Knowledge and experience within the OCTG pipe industry is preferable.

o Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.

o Manual dexterity required for operating machinery, hand tools and handheld technical devices.

o Knowledge of the manufacturing processes, procedures, and Slitter operation a plus.

Personal Competencies:

o Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

o Employees must be able to work with a flexible schedule, which may require over-time.

Safety:

o Understands all applicable location safety rules and regulations and makes sure that all are being followed.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.

Loose-fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted on site.

The ability to lift 25/50 pounds regularly.

The ability to respond quickly to sounds.

The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.

The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.

The ability to safely climb ladders while carrying 40 pounds.

The ability to work in loud, hot environments/extreme weather while wearing required PPE.

Ability to see 20-20 when corrected.

Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
