Job description

Job Summary

We are looking for a Slitter Machine Operator for our organization. The primary role of a Slitter Operator is setting-up and operating a slitting machine to cut rolls of Protective Film to documented specifications and/or winding or rewinding as necessary to ensure optimum safety, quality and production while minimizing cost, energy, and waste in our team-based environment. In this role, you will operator out of our Conover, NC facility, reporting to the Production Manager.

Classification: Full-Time-Hourly

Reports To: Shift Supervisor 

Shifts: Days and Nights -6AM - 6PM, 6PM-6AM based on a 2-2-3 schedule (overtime as needed based on business needs).

Compensation & Growth: Competitive starting pay of $18–$21/hr, plus career growth opportunities with potential to earn higher wages (up to $32/hr) as you advance within Pregis.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Support Environmental Health & Safety for the facility, following all current policies and procedures and making an effort to improve the Environmental Health and Safety performance of our facility.
  • Set-up and operate slitter machines to efficiency, quality and order specifications.
  • Spaces rotary slitter knifes or razor blades on machine shaft or holding device according to specified width and secures blades in position
  • Maintain visual workplace standards.
  • Complete required paperwork including visual check sheets and run condition sheets
  • Monitors and maintains quality by looking for defects in the products
  • Safely operate Jib hoists and pallet jacks
  • Meets established production goals
  • Enters production data in SAP
  • Actively participate in all Continuous Improvement, Safety and Quality initiatives
  • Performs housekeeping duties to ensure a clean and safe work environment
  • Understands and supports PF&C Quality Policy.
  • Understands PF&C Quality Objectives, and aids in the achievement of them.
  • Contributes to the continual improvement of PF&C’s Quality Management System by following current written policies, procedures, and work instructions, etc., while providing constructive feedback, input, and suggestions.

 

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
  • Prior experience in slitting operation is preferred but not required
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience operating Production/Converting equipment in a Manufacturing setting
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus
  • Ability to lift, push, pull and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to quantify results, identify new opportunities, adapt to change and interface with all levels of management
  • Basic computer skills (SAP knowledge is a plus)
