What This Role Is
At Paul Davis, we restore people’s homes, businesses, and peace of mind after some of the most difficult events in their lives.
We're looking for an experienced Mitigation Project Manager to lead emergency restoration projects from initial inspection through successful completion and seamless transition into reconstruction when necessary.
This is not a position for someone who simply dispatches crews or monitors drying equipment from behind a desk. We're looking for someone who understands emergency restoration, insurance, customer service, and project profitability at a high level. Someone who can confidently inspect complex losses, develop an effective mitigation strategy, build trust with customers, lead technicians, communicate with adjusters, and ensure each project is completed safely, efficiently, and to Paul Davis standards.
You will oversee residential and commercial projects involving water damage, fire and smoke damage, mold remediation, trauma and biohazard cleanup, structural deodorization, and environmental contamination. You will own every aspect of the mitigation project, including customer experience, scope development, documentation quality, technician performance, insurance compliance, scheduling, equipment utilization, project profitability, and successful handoff to reconstruction.
As our company continues to grow, this role will help establish mitigation standards, mentor team members, improve department processes, and provide leadership across the mitigation operation.
What You'll Be Responsible For (Job Responsibilities)
  • Own mitigation projects from initial inspection through successful completion and transition to reconstruction when required.
  • Perform detailed field inspections of residential and commercial properties affected by water, fire, smoke, mold, trauma, and other environmental losses.
  • Educate homeowners, commercial clients, and insurance representatives on restoration methodology, insurance processes, project timelines, and customer expectations.
  • Build trust and confidence with customers through professionalism, communication, and technical expertise.
  • Develop complete mitigation scopes of work utilizing IICRC standards, industry best practices, and sound restoration principles.
  • Develop and manage structural drying plans utilizing psychrometry, moisture mapping, and daily monitoring to ensure projects are dried efficiently and correctly.
  • Oversee emergency mitigation services including water extraction, structural drying, demolition, fire and smoke cleaning, deodorization, mold remediation, trauma cleanup, and environmental cleaning.
  • Review estimates and estimate submissions utilizing Xactimate, XactAnalysis, and Symbility (Claims Workspace) to support negotiations.
  • Minimize unnecessary estimate and supplement revision cycles through complete documentation and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Build productive relationships with adjusters, reviewers, industrial hygienists, consultants, and TPAs while professionally advocating for appropriate claim settlements.
  • Identify and pursue supplemental opportunities throughout the mitigation process.
  • Lead, coach, and develop mitigation technicians while maintaining accountability for safety, production, documentation quality, and customer service.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, equipment utilization, quality, and profitability.
  • Partner with Reconstruction, Contents, and Accounting teams to provide a seamless customer experience from emergency response through project completion.
  • Drive exceptional customer satisfaction throughout every project.
  • Lead by example with ownership, accountability, and professionalism.
  • Represent Paul Davis professionally throughout every interaction.

What Success Looks Like
  • Emergency response times consistently meet or exceed company and insurance program expectations.
  • Mitigation projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to Paul Davis quality standards.
  • Mitigation gross margins consistently meet or exceed company goals.
  • Customers receive an exceptional experience and confidently refer Paul Davis through online reviews and word of mouth.
  • Drying plans are executed correctly, projects are thoroughly documented, and files require minimal revisions.
  • Supplemental opportunities are consistently identified and successfully negotiated.
  • Strong, professional relationships are maintained with carriers, TPAs, consultants, and industrial hygienists.
  • Technicians are well-trained, highly productive, and continuously improving their technical abilities.
  • Equipment, labor, and resources are utilized efficiently while minimizing downtime.
  • Leads with ownership, accountability, and a relentless commitment to winning.

Who You Are (Qualifications)
  • Minimum 5 years of restoration mitigation project management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of water damage restoration, structural drying, fire and smoke mitigation, mold remediation, trauma cleanup, deodorization, and environmental restoration.
  • Demonstrated success managing residential and commercial mitigation projects from initial inspection through successful completion.
  • Strong understanding of IICRC standards, psychrometry, moisture mapping, and structural drying principles.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with homeowners, commercial clients, insurance carriers, adjusters, TPAs, industrial hygienists, and subcontractors.
  • Working knowledge of Xactimate, XactAnalysis, and Symbility (Claims Workspace), with the ability to review estimates for completeness, accuracy, and constructability.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail, follow-through, and problem-solving skills.
  • Professional communicator capable of building trust with customers, adjusters, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Proven ability to lead by example, hold others accountable, and drive projects to successful outcomes.
  • Leadership mindset with a passion for developing people, improving processes, and raising the standard of the mitigation department.
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership, urgency, and accountability.

Preferred Qualifications
  • IICRC WRT Certification required.
  • ASD, FSRT, AMRT, OCT, or other advanced IICRC certifications preferred.
  • Commercial and large-loss restoration experience.
  • Previous leadership, mentoring, or team development experience.
  • Experience managing multiple emergency restoration projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with Contractor Connection and other insurance program environments.
  • Experience using XactAnalysis, Symbility (Claims Workspace), DocuSketch, DASH, and RMS.
  • Established relationships with insurance carriers, adjusters, industrial hygienists, consultants, and restoration subcontractors.
