SUMMARY
The Shipping and Receiving Lead oversees all activities related to shipping, receiving, and warehousing materials, ensuring accurate data input, timely deliveries, and compliance with company control practices. This role involves supervising inventory changes, collaborating with production teams, and leading logistics teams to meet key performance indicators. The Supervisor also trains personnel, maintains cleanliness and compliance in the shipping areas, and communicates updates to internal and external teams, while actively participating in process improvements and quality enhancement initiatives.
JOB FUNCTION/PURPOSE
• Ensures the inputs of data into shipping and receiving schedules and all relevant company programs.
• Oversees on-time delivery tracking is done daily.
• Actively involved in process improvement and ensures adherence with all company control practices.
• Supervise scheduling changes and determines appropriate timing for the pick-up, delivery, warehousing, inventory, and staging of materials.
• Interacts with the production team and Program Coordinators to maintain and adjust the shipping schedule, maintaining the warehouse inventory accurate.
• Coordinates forklift drivers & checkers. Reallocates them to other departments as needed.
• Trains personnel and maintains necessary performance to achieve department objectives in quality and productivity.
• Ensures accurate loading of goods into trailers and containers.
• Leads logistic teams to meet and exceed KPIs (i.e. On-time Delivery (OTD), truck utilization), meets costs per handling, and management of overtime (labor dollars).
• Responsible for all duties assigned to the shipping, receiving and traffic departments and their designees.
• Effectively communicates any status updates to internal and external teams as necessary.
• Verifies shipping orders and/or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or shipped.
• Maintains organization and cleanliness in shipping and receiving areas, ensuring compliance with Internal SOPs, FDA, AIB, CDPH, and other relevant certification standards.
• Communicates updates and changes to company policies, process modifications, workloads, and safety topics.
• Participates in root cause analysis on department errors and leads efforts to improve quality.
• Performs scheduled reviews with appropriate personnel. Documents corrective action.
• Supervises and develops employees as well as provides strategic input on department
• Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES
• 2-3 year's considerable experience in shipping, warehousing and/or inventory control.
• Knowledge of computer basics.
• Considerable knowledge of shipping, receiving, and warehousing control practices.
• Demonstrated understanding of different geographic typography and shipping and supply locations in Greater Los Angeles area.
• Ability to communicate with customer/vendor representatives as well as with internal production and customer service personnel.
• Ability to readily make and respond to changes in shipping schedules.
• Ability to work extended and variable hours as required, assigned to different work shifts as needed.
• Valid Driver's License with DMV evidence of good driving record.
• Bilingual in Spanish/English.
