Job description

Project Description Summary

We are seeking an experienced CADD Operator to support the SFMTA Potrero Yard Modernization Project. The successful candidate will have extensive experience using Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) software to develop and maintain engineering drawings and 3D models for rail transit, utility, civil, structural, architectural, electrical, mechanical, and systems disciplines. This position requires close collaboration with engineers and multidisciplinary design teams to produce accurate as-built documentation and support project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, update, and maintain as-built drawings and engineering documentation for the SFMTA Potrero Yard Modernization Project.
  • Coordinate drafting activities with project team members and multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, markups, civil plans, and track as-built documentation.
  • Recreate and modify track alignments under the direction of the Track Engineer.
  • Develop and maintain coordinated 3D models using AutoCAD Civil 3D and Revit.
  • Ensure all elements of the project information model are accurately coordinated across disciplines.
  • Prepare construction documentation, including plans, elevations, sections, details, and schematics.
  • Develop and maintain project databases, spreadsheets, and other project records.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in CADD production for rail transit, transportation, utility, or major infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, including preparation of engineering drawings for rail transit systems, utility power systems, or civil infrastructure projects.
  • Experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D and Revit.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and design markups and translate them into accurate 2D drawings and coordinated 3D models.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawing standards and construction documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within an integrated, multidisciplinary project team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, Drafting Technology, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience supporting transportation or rail transit design projects.
  • Working knowledge of civil, track, electrical, utility, or systems engineering for infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with Microsoft PowerPoint and Visio.
  • Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) coordination and multidisciplinary model integration.

Part Time on-site assignment, working in San Francisco

Salary Range: $55.00 to $64.00 per hour, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
