Position Summary: The Food Service Intern will learn and collaborate on special functions and learn about the business side of operations (planning, ordering, inventory, billing, etc..). They will be responsible for planning and cooking large batch meals for day-to-day operations, as well as collaborate with various departments to plan and execute special functions (golf tournament, monthly holiday buffets, parent events, holiday parties, etc...). The intern would have the opportunity to take on a special project for the semester to apply what they are learning in the classroom and improve the current function of our kitchen and special events.
Responsibilities:
  • Organize and manage documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, and entries into the Electronic Health Record (EHR), while maintaining strong computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and EHR systems.
  • Work collaboratively with staff within the interdisciplinary team as well as colleagues in other departments.
  • Assure proper food storage, sanitation and rotation of refrigerators, freezers, pantries.
  • Complete required reports and documentation in a timely manner, meeting all standards of content and professional presentation.
  • Prepare menus for food program requirements and daily food production schedules.
  • Perform a variety of routine clerical tasks such as maintaining files and balancing inventories.
  • Assist in the purchasing and ordering of all foods and maintain inventories.
  • Manage job functions within established financial limits.
  • Be responsible that all sharp utensils are safe and securely locked.
  • Special event meals will be monitored by assigned cooks. This may include breakfasts, lunches, dinners and/or brunches for programs.


Requirements

Education:

  • Enrolled in Culinary Arts program required

Experience:

  • Some experience cooking or working in a kitchen preferred
