REPORTS TO:
Transportation Supervisor/Food Service Manager
MINIMUM QUALIFICAITONS:
Meet all the requirements of Education Law, Vehicle and Traffic Law and Regulations of the Commissioner of Education including but not limited to the following:
  • 19 years of age
  • Annual physical exam
  • Physical performance test
  • Obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Receive 3 hours of pre-service instruction
  • Completion of 10-hour basic course of instruction for school bus attendant within first year of employment
  • Annual completion of two 2-hour refresher training

MAJOR DUTIES:
  1. Responsible for reasonable behavior of pupils in transit; not allowing them to enter/leave while the bus is in motion.
  2. Shall assist the bus driver by instructing pupils of any and all safety rules/drills and district policies.
  3. Shall not leave pupils are inside except in case of emergency or assisting pupils to enter/exit the vehicle.
  4. Shall perform all the duties of a monitor.
  5. Assist with preparation of food portions and prepare cafeteria counter.
  6. Serves students and staff from cafeteria counter.
  7. Removes and cleans used dishes and silverware and assists in the cleaning of the counters, tables, and furnishings in the dining area.
  8. Maintains the trash and garbage collection area in neat and sanitary fashions.
  9. Thoroughness, cleanliness and good physical condition, while demonstrating competence for assigned responsibilities.
  10. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
