What is a senior web developer?

A senior web developer is a highly skilled computer coding professional with fluency in languages such as HTML, JavaScript, and CSS. In this career, your responsibilities include designing, developing, and debugging the backend of software programs for websites, applications, tools, and databases. You also work with JavaScript frameworks, develop tests using testing frameworks, help build and deploy automation scripts, troubleshoot, and resolve app performance issues. As a senior web developer, you may supervise a team of developers and collaborate with user experience designers to determine what the frontend user experience and website layout will look like during the design phase. Other duties may include enforcing coding standards, reviewing the work completed by your team, managing the budget and project schedule, and communicating directly with clients.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a senior web developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Senior Web Developer, you need advanced proficiency in programming languages like JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and backend frameworks, supported by a bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience. Expertise in tools such as version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and knowledge of modern frameworks (React, Angular, Node.js) are typically required, along with relevant certifications. They must also navigate evolving technologies and frameworks, which requires ongoing learning and adaptability. Effective communication with designers, backend developers, and project managers is essential to align technical solutions with business goals. Successfully managing these aspects leads to smoother project delivery and professional growth.

Sr. Web Developer (AI)

The search for a Sr. Web Developer has begun. Precise Resource, Inc., a leading privately held Woman Business Enterprise specializing in Executive Search and headhunting services for Fortune 500 clients across the United States, is seeking a talented technology professional to help design, build, and enhance web applications that are scalable, secure, and optimized for performance, usability, and SEO.

Our client has developed an innovative solution that enables eye doctors to remotely examine patients via video conference while controlling the phoropter at the patient site. This technology brings together images, data, and clinical workflows to provide a more complete view of the patient experience. As the platform continues to evolve, the team is also incorporating AI-enabled capabilities to improve workflow efficiency, application intelligence, and the overall user experience.

This role reports directly to the Director of Software Engineering and requires creative problem-solving, strong communication, and the ability to contribute both independently and within cross-functional teams. Projects will vary over time, offering the opportunity to support both core platform enhancements and new feature development.

You will join a growing team of web developers supporting the flagship Digital Tele-Optometry application, including new features that leverage AI-assisted development tools and emerging AI-driven application capabilities. You will help deliver high-quality functionality that meets customer needs, supports innovation, and scales with growing demand.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with web designers and front-end developers to integrate back-end functionality with intuitive, user-friendly interfaces.
  • Build, maintain, and optimize secure, scalable server-side logic and APIs.
  • Leverage Azure services such as Azure Functions, Logic Apps, and App Services to develop and deploy modern web solutions.
  • Monitor and improve MSSQL database performance, including query tuning and indexing strategies.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the application stack, including APIs, databases, and web services.
  • Participate in code reviews, mentor team members, and promote development best practices.
  • Contribute to the design and support of AI-enabled application features, including integrations that improve automation, efficiency, insight generation, or user workflows.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools where appropriate to accelerate delivery, improve code quality, and support innovation while maintaining engineering standards.
  • Support ongoing enhancement, scalability, and reliability of the existing web platform.
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience developing web applications.
  • 5+ years of experience working with Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with .NET Framework 4.x and above.
  • Experience with ASP.NET, C#, MSSQL, LINQ, and JavaScript.
  • Experience developing and deploying applications in Azure DevOps and Azure-hosted environments.
  • Experience creating and consuming APIs.
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving website and application issues efficiently.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native application architecture.
  • Experience with scalable multi-user pub-sub applications.
  • Experience with SignalR is a plus.
  • Experience with embedded video conferencing is a plus.
  • Experience with Telerik, Kendo UI, or DevExpress is a plus.
  • Experience with AI-assisted software development tools and/or building AI-enhanced application features is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Whisper or other speech/voice AI technologies is a plus.
