They analyze demand, inventory, and resource availability to create efficient 'waves' or batches of orders for processing and shipping. By optimizing the timing and sequence of these waves, they help ensure timely order fulfillment and maximize warehouse efficiency. Senior Wave Planners often use warehouse management systems (WMS) and collaborate closely with operations, inventory, and transportation teams. Their expertise helps minimize delays, reduce costs, and improve customer satisfaction.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a senior wave planner?

To thrive as a Senior Wave Planner, you need expertise in warehouse operations, inventory management, and supply chain logistics, usually supported by a relevant degree or equivalent experience. Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP platforms, and advanced Excel skills is typically required. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for coordinating teams and optimizing workflows. These skills ensure efficient order fulfillment, minimize delays, and help maintain smooth warehouse operations in a fast-paced environment.
