WHO are we looking for?

CAPTRUST is seeking an experienced PR and Content Strategist to join its 40-person marketing team. This individual will help strengthen the firm’s editorial strategy, public relations efforts, and message consistency across client, prospect, advisor, and firmwide communications.

This role is designed for someone who can move fluidly between strategy and execution: shaping editorial priorities, developing high-quality written content, supporting media relations and thought leadership, and helping translate complex financial topics into clear, compelling communications. The ideal candidate brings strong writing judgment, an understanding of how content supports business development and client engagement, and the ability to partner effectively with subject matter experts, marketing colleagues, and business-line stakeholders.

This role is responsible for developing high-quality, strategically aligned content for multiple audiences, including wealth management clients, retirement plan sponsors and participants, endowment and foundation leaders, and colleagues across the firm.

The ideal candidate brings strong writing judgment, an ability to translate complex concepts into clear communication, and interest in contributing to how content supports business development and client engagement:

Editorial content and client material creation (50%):

  • Write and develop original content for captrust.com, including long- and short-form articles and video scripts
  • Partner with subject matter experts to translate complex financial topics into clear, client-ready insights
  • Develop copy for client- and prospect-facing materials, including presentations, presentations, ads, and campaign content

Public relations support (30%):

  • Work closely with Communication Senior Manager to help shape and execute CAPTRUST’s public relations strategy, with a focus on elevating the firm’s visibility, reputation, and differentiated positioning
  • Identify and develop compelling storylines and narratives aligned with firm priorities, market trends, and growth initiatives
  • Draft and refine high-impact external communications, including press releases, executive talking points, and media responses
  • Partner with senior leaders and subject matter experts on message development and media readiness

Editorial support and content optimization (20%)

  • Edit and elevate content across channels, improving clarity, structure, and consistency
  • Ensure alignment with CAPTRUST writing standards, tone, and brand voice
  • Optimize content for use across digital channels, including email and social media
  • Incorporate SEO/GEO/AEO best practices into new and existing content
  • Collaborate with sales enablement, digital, and business-line stakeholders to align content with firm priorities

The mix of responsibilities will evolve based on business needs. This role may also contribute to broader marketing initiatives and special projects across the firm.

A strong command of and commitment to enforcing the CAPTRUST style guide (based on the Chicago Manual of Style, with firm-specific deviations) is essential.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred) or equivalent experience in English, journalism, public relations, technical writing, marketing, or a related field
  • 5–7 years of experience writing and editing marketing, editorial, or public relations content for print and/or digital platforms

Desired Qualifications/Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to develop content and communications that align with broader business and marketing objectives
  • Proven ability to translate complex concepts into clear, engaging narratives
  • Familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS) preferred
  • Experience with AI writing tools (e.g. Jasper, CoPilot ChatGPT, Claude), content management systems (e.g. Asana, WordPress), and digital marketing platforms is a plus
  • Previous experience in the financial or investment advisory industry is not required.
