About the Job

Lightspeed Aviation is seeking a Sr. Manufacturing Quality Engineer to support premium aviation headset products and service operations.

Position Overview:

The position owns, under direction of Sr. Director Manufacturing Operations & Quality, product quality assurance across domestic and international facilities, including supplier quality, assembly, test, and repair operations. The role defines and improves production and quality processes, supports verification and validation of assembly, repair, and test methods, drives part and process qualification, and maintains inspection planning, in-process inspection capability, configuration control, and process monitoring. The position also serves as a designated TSO authorized signatory responsible for Certificate of Conformance review, approval, and authorized release documentation.

This role operates with significant cross-functional influence across Operations, Sustaining Engineering, Supply Chain, Production, Warehouse, Service Repair, and leadership teams. The position requires strong problem-solving skills, independent judgment, technical writing capability, and the ability to balance quality assurance requirements with practical manufacturing and repair execution.

The successful candidate will be equally comfortable on the production floor, in supplier discussions, and in cross-functional technical reviews. This role requires someone who can translate quality requirements into practical manufacturing and repair controls while maintaining clear documentation, disciplined change control, and strong follow-through.

This role will require quarterly travel to international facilities for auditing, QA, training.

Responsibilities:

  • Champion product quality across NPI, sustaining products, production, and service operations, including quality planning, release readiness, verification support, quality acceptance, and change gatekeeping.
  • Manage supplier quality and global production/repair support activities, including supplier performance monitoring, audits, corrective actions, escalations, documentation support, and cross-functional issue resolution.
  • Serve as a designated TSO authorized signatory responsible for Certificate of Conformance review, approval, and authorized release documentation.
  • Serve as the ISO/QMS owner, including related documentation, audit readiness, policy compliance, corrective/preventive action, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve operational and technical documentation, including procedures, work instructions, assembly/test procedures, packaging instructions, service/repair manuals, and Right to Repair documentation.
  • Administer and improve production and repair control systems, test equipment programs, calibration controls, production/repair metrics, workflow accuracy, and data integrity.
  • Analyze production, supplier, repair, and field data to identify trends, risks, root causes, and corrective/preventive actions, and communicate quality status, priorities, ownership, and mitigation plans to leadership.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, Quality, or related discipline), or equivalent technical training and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, supplier quality, production support, or a closely related technical operations role.
  • Experience with quality management systems such as ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar regulated quality standards.
  • Demonstrated technical writing ability, including work instructions, procedures, manuals, test methods, manufacturing documentation, quality records, or regulated release documentation.
  • Experience with supplier quality management, corrective/preventive actions, production support, and cross-functional issue resolution.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills, with ability to manage multiple priorities across quality and manufacturing workstreams.
  • Proficiency with ERP, MES, QMS, PLM, production data, or related operational systems; strong Microsoft Excel, data analysis, and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Six Sigma certification, or equivalent demonstrated process improvement experience.
  • Experience in electronics manufacturing, aviation products, repair operations, FAA-regulated products, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
  • FAA DER, TSO, Certificate of Conformance, authorized release, certification, or aviation regulatory experience.
  • Experience with acoustic test equipment development, maintenance, calibration, or production test methods.
  • Familiarity with Right to Repair requirements, service documentation, or repair-center operating models.
  • Advanced degree or specialized training in electrical engineering, acoustic engineering, manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, or a related technical discipline.

  • The range for this position is based on experience and the range is $100,000 to $120,000 depending on experience.
