Remote Ate Test Engineer information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote ATE Test Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote ATE Test Engineer, you need a strong background in electronics, test engineering principles, and a relevant engineering degree or equivalent experience. Familiarity with Automated Test Equipment (ATE), programming languages like Python or LabVIEW, and industry-standard test management systems is essential. Excellent problem-solving skills, clear communication, and the ability to work independently are critical soft skills for this remote position. These competencies ensure accurate testing, efficient troubleshooting, and effective collaboration, which are vital for delivering high-quality test solutions from a remote environment.

What is a Remote ATE Test Engineer?

A Remote Automated Test Equipment (ATE) Test Engineer is a professional who designs, develops, and maintains automated systems used to test electronic devices or systems, often from a remote location. They create test plans, write scripts, analyze test data, and troubleshoot equipment or software issues to ensure products meet quality and performance standards. Working remotely, they leverage digital tools and secure connections to collaborate with teams, monitor tests, and resolve issues without being physically present in the lab or manufacturing facility. This role is common in industries like electronics, aerospace, and telecommunications.

How does a Remote ATE Test Engineer typically collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve testing issues?

As a Remote ATE (Automated Test Equipment) Test Engineer, collaboration with hardware, software, and product development teams is a key part of the role. Most communication happens through video conferences, chat tools, and shared documentation platforms. You'll often review test data, discuss anomalies, and coordinate troubleshooting efforts remotely, ensuring issues are resolved efficiently. Building strong virtual relationships and clearly documenting findings are essential for success in this distributed work environment.

What is the difference between Remote Ate Test Engineer vs Remote Software Test Engineer?

AspectRemote Ate Test EngineerRemote Software Test Engineer
Required CredentialsTypically requires a degree in Computer Science or related field, plus certifications like ISTQBSimilar credentials, often including ISTQB or CSTE certifications
Work EnvironmentWorks remotely within software development teams, focusing on automation and testing of embedded or hardware-related softwareRemotely collaborates with development teams, mainly testing software applications and systems
Employer & Industry UsageUsed in industries like automotive, aerospace, and embedded systemsCommon across IT, tech companies, and software development firms

The main difference is that Remote Ate Test Engineers focus on testing embedded, hardware-related, or automotive systems, while Remote Software Test Engineers primarily test software applications. Both roles require similar skills and certifications but serve different industry needs.

Job description

EnCharge AI is a leader in advanced AI hardware and software systems for edge-to-cloud computing. EnCharge's robust and scalable next-generation in-memory computing technology provides orders-of-magnitude higher compute efficiency and density compared to today's best-in-class solutions. The high-performance architecture is coupled with seamless software integration and will enable the immense potential of AI to be accessible in power, energy, and space constrained applications. EnCharge AI launched in 2022 and is led by veteran technologists with backgrounds in semiconductor design and AI systems.

Principal DFT Engineer

Job Description:
Developing silicon for AI Computing isn't just about speed; it's about balancing high-performance data processing with extreme power efficiency and reliability in remote environments.

As a Principal DFT(Design for Test) Engineer, you will lead our testing strategy, ensuring the manufacturing quality, reliability, and test efficiency of complex, high-performance AI accelerators.

Key Responsibilities:
Architectural Leadership: Define and implement the end-to-end DFT architecture for complex SoCs, including Hierarchical DFT, Scan compression, Boundary Scan and MBIST.

Edge-Specific Reliability: Develop strategies for In-System Test (IST) and power-on self-test (POST) to ensure chip health in remote edge data centers.

Implementation & Flow: Oversee scan insertion, ATPG (Stuck-at, Transition, Path Delay), and Memory/Logic BIST.

Cross-Functional Synergy: Collaborate with Design, Physical Design, and Yield teams to ensure high test coverage while minimizing area overhead and power impact as well as timing analysis.

Post-Silicon Validation: Lead the bring-up and debug phase on ATE (Automated Test Equipment) to root-cause silicon failures and optimize test time.

Technical Requirements:
Experience: 10+ years in DFT, with at least 2 years in a leadership or principal role.

Tools: Mastery of industry-standard tools (e.g., Synopsys TestMAX, Siemens/Mentor Tessent, or Cadence Genus/Modus).

Memory & Logic Test: Deep expertise in MBIST (Memory Built-In Self-Test) with repair capabilities, SCAN, IJTAG (IEEE 1687) and boundary scan (IEEE 1149.1/6).

Advanced Nodes: Proven track record with FinFET nodes (7nm, 5nm, or below).

Low Power: Experience managing DFT in multi-voltage/power-gated designs-crucial for edge efficiency.

The salary range for this position is $180,000 to $220,000 per year. Actual compensation offered will be determined based by factors as job-related knowledge, skills and experience.
