Job description

This position requires office presence of a minimum of 5 days per week and is only located at customer's site.

Our team supports the federal government leveraging a sole source small business/set aside contract providing multiple and diverse solutions to streamline, simplify, reuse, rebuild, modernize, or enhance the government's network. This includes professional services, design, engineering, system architecture, installation, monitoring, solutioning, and related support. Our customers are widespread agencies in the public sector and intelligence communities.

AT&T is looking to fill the position of Senior Telecommunication Engineer to support our PRIME contractor. The incumbent will provide support to the DOS's Bureau of Information Resources Management (IRM)/Operations (OPS)/Enterprise Network Management (ENM)/Diplomatic Technology (DT). This role is responsible for the design, implementation, operation, maintenance, coordination, and support of the DOS Enterprise Telecommunications networks for voice and data services in all domestic locations.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

- Cable and conduit services
- Placing phones/sunsetting EOL equipment
- Upgrade and replacement of systems on a scheduled basis
- Installation of new systems
- Fulfillment of service requests for all voice and data service moves, adds, changes, and disconnects
- Management and maintenance of associated computer equipment rooms within the National Capital Area Region (NCR)
- Response to and resolution of incidents
- Process configuration updates based on service changes
- Process financial transactions based on service changes
- Quality management activities and business process re-engineering
- Procurement of all equipment, materials, and installations

Required Clearance:

Secret (#secret)

Required Qualifications:

- 7 years' experience overseeing and installing telephone, coaxial, and fiber optic cables, including vertical and horizontal cable pairs to the desktop.
- 7 years' experience locating and diagnosing signal transmission defects using various test equipment and visual inspection.
- 7 years' experience using tools and related test equipment, ground power equipment, and pressure equipment.
- Must be willing to support multiple site locations in the immediate area while being mindful of VIP customers.
- Must be willing to work in Washington, DC; this position requires onsite presence.
Education:
- High school degree
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred.

Desired Qualifications:

BICSI cabling certification in one or more of the following areas, or equivalent experience/other certifications may be considered:
- Installer 1
- Installer 2, Copper
- Installer 2, Optical Fiber
- Technician
