Job description

The expected hiring range for this position is:

$99,500.00-$130,900.00.

The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such the scope and responsibilities of the position, qualifications of the selected candidate, business considerations, internal equity, and external market pay for comparable jobs.

About the Role:

Fermilab's Human Resources Department is seeking a Senior Workday Technical Analyst to lead in the configuration, and optimization of the organization's Human Capital Management system, Workday. This role serves as a strategic partner to HR and IT, leading system initiatives, managing complex projects, and ensuring data integrity across all HR processes.

What your day-to-day as the Senior Workday Technical Analyst at Fermilab will look like:

  • Design, build, and deploy Workday Extend applications to enhance existing Workday functionality and deliver tailored solutions for HR and business needs.

  • Develop and maintain advanced composite reports and calculated fields to support complex business requirements, ensuring accurate data analysis, compliance, and actionable insights for HR and leadership teams.

  • Provide technical/functional expertise for HCM HR modules and business processes.

  • Collaborate with IT Solutions team to configure HCM, evaluate and test new functionality and resolve technical problems.

  • Create advanced custom reports, custom dashboards, alerts, and notifications for various roles throughout the organization (managers, senior leaders, etc.).

  • Analyze HR processes in partnership with HR subject matter experts and internal customers to design, support and execute business process implementation. Ensure a clear understanding of the overall business requirements; assist with prioritizing requests, confirm requirements, and make recommendations to enhance processes using best practice solutions and innovative technology.

  • Lead HR team in testing, validating and documenting solutions at each system or business process update.

  • Utilize service desk system to monitor, assign and resolve HCM incidents and enhancement requests related to HR functions.

  • Key contributor to HCM Program Planning to communicate requirements, project status and issues and to implement HRIS strategies for efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Ensure data integrity within HCM and down-line systems in collaboration with Employee Records function.

  • Partner with HR subject matter experts to produce business process documentation and end-user training.

  • Utilize HCM to develop, implement, administer, maintain, and enhance policies and procedures for collection and maintenance of employee related data to enable effective administration of employee records and other dependent administrative processes. Assure compliance with all State and Federal legislation and DOE orders.

  • May provide supervision or leadership of a team including hiring, promotions, performance reviews, training, disciplinary actions, team exits, and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 7+ years of experience or equivalent of 10 years of technical experience.

Applicable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required:

  • Possesses specialized expertise in Workday systems, including system usage, HR process configuration, and advanced report development (required experience with composite reports and creating complex calculated fields).

  • Understanding of Workday integration frameworks and security models.

  • Extensive proficiency in at least three of the following Workday modules: Learning, Benefits, Recruiting, Adaptive Planning, and Core HCM.

Preferred

  • Experience with Workday Extend for building custom applications and other Workday modules as the Laboratory expands its Workday portfolio
