Join apg as a Senior Manager of Software and Electronics Engineering and help shape the next generation of connected products, embedded systems, electronics, software, and cloud-enabled technologies.   • Shape the technical direction for software, electronics, embedded systems, cloud platforms, APIs, SDKs, connectivity, and connected-product technologies.

Position Summary
The Senior Manager of Software and Electronics Engineering will lead APG’s digital and electronics technology organization, including electronics hardware, embedded software, cloud software, APIs, SDKs, connectivity, and connected-product technologies. This leader will help define technology strategy, strengthen engineering practices, support successful product delivery, and guide innovation through commercialization and lifecycle support.

Working closely with Hardware and Product Engineering leadership, the Senior Manager will ensure seamless integration of hardware, software, and cloud technologies across the product portfolio and support execution of the long-term product roadmap. The successful candidate will build high-performing engineering teams, establish technology architecture, and drive engineering excellence from concept through commercialization and lifecycle support.

Key Responsibilities

Technology & Engineering Leadership

  • Lead multidisciplinary teams across electronics, embedded systems, cloud software, APIs, SDKs, connectivity, and digital platforms while setting technology strategy, architecture direction, and engineering standards that support quality, security, scalability, and innovation.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership while empowering team members and external partners to execute effectively.

Product Development & Innovation

  • Oversee the design, development, validation, and release of electronic and software solutions for current and future products.
  • Partner with Product Management and Engineering leaders to translate customer and market needs into effective technology solutions.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, industry trends, and competitive developments to identify opportunities for innovation and differentiation.
  • Ensure effective integration of software, electronics, connectivity, and cloud technologies across the product portfolio.
  • Support technology planning for both near-term product needs and longer-term platform development.

Cross-Functional & Operational Leadership

  • Partner with Product Management, Hardware Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Service to deliver integrated products, support lifecycle improvements, manage resources and budgets, and communicate priorities, risks, and recommendations clearly.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Experience managing complex product development programs from concept through commercialization
Strong understanding of electronics design, embedded systems, software development lifecycle practices, and product architecture
Proven ability to collaborate effectively across engineering disciplines and business functions
Knowledge of cybersecurity, software quality, regulatory compliance, and functional safety
Experience leading globally distributed engineering teams and external development partners
Excellent verbal and written communication skills

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, software engineering, or a related technical discipline
3+ years of engineering leadership experience with increasing responsibility in software, electronics, or connected-product development
Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary teams spanning hardware, connected devices, embedded software, and cloud technologies
Experience with IoT, Android, Windows, Linux, connected devices, APIs, SDKs, TCPIP, HTTP, TLS, HTTPS, USB HID and digital ecosystems, preferred
Experience with Heroku and Voltr or similar hosting environments, preferred
Prior experience in point-of-sale (POS) systems & technology, preferred
