Senior Project Manager – Five Star Mechanical

Location: Wichita, Kansas
Compensation: $100,000–$140,000+ salary depending on experience, with bonus potentials

Five Star Mechanical is a locally owned mechanical contractor serving Wichita and the surrounding region since 2005. We provide HVAC, plumbing, piping, sheet metal, and building automation solutions for commercial and industrial customers.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager specializing in commercial piping and sheet metal work who is ready to take ownership of larger, more complex mechanical projects and help strengthen the next generation of project managers on our team.

This is not an entry-level or “learn as you go” PM role. We are looking for someone who already has a strong construction project management background, understands how to manage the financial and operational side of a project, and can confidently lead projects from pre-construction through closeout.

What You'll Do

  • Lead large and complex mechanical construction projects from pre-construction through closeout, specializing in commercial, HVAC, Piping, Plumbing and Sheet Metal work
  • Take ownership of project budgets, schedules, costs, and overall performance
  • Manage change orders, billing, forecasting, procurement, and project documentation
  • Build strong working relationships with customers, general contractors, vendors, subcontractors, and field teams
  • Work closely with foremen and superintendents to keep projects moving and resolve issues quickly
  • Identify risks and problems early and develop practical solutions
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers, helping develop less-experienced PMs through knowledge-sharing, training, and best practices.
  • Partner with company leadership on project strategy, customer relationships, and overall project performance
  • Represent Five Star professionally and help maintain the high standards we expect from our team

  • Significant experience managing commercial or industrial construction projects
  • Strong understanding of mechanical construction, including HVAC, plumbing, piping, sheet metal, or building automation
  • Proven experience managing large projects with significant budgets and multiple stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of project financials, scheduling, contracts, change management, and cost control
  • Ability to independently make decisions, solve problems, and take accountability for results
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to lead and develop other project managers
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities without losing sight of the big picture
  • A track record of successfully completing projects and earning the trust of customers and field teams
