What does a Sr project manager do?

A Sr Project Manager oversees complex projects from initiation to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget. They coordinate cross-functional teams, manage stakeholder expectations, and mitigate risks throughout the project lifecycle. Senior Project Managers are also responsible for strategic planning, resource allocation, and reporting on project progress to upper management. Their experience allows them to handle multiple projects simultaneously and resolve high-level issues that arise.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Sr project manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Sr Project Manager, you need strong leadership, project planning, budgeting, and risk management skills, often supported by a bachelor’s degree and several years of experience in project management. Familiarity with tools like Microsoft Project, Jira, and certifications such as PMP or PRINCE2 are highly valued in the role.
